Friday Favorites: Big Anniversary, Summer Outdoor Finds & Royal News

Happy Friday!  This week was jam packed and I’m so excited for a quiet Friday night. The rest of the weekend will be a little crazy..more on that later. Earlier in the week, I wrapped up the month with the fun link up What’s Up Wednesday post. Today, as usual, I am sharing my favorites of the week and I am linking up with Erika, Narci and Andrea for Friday Favorites.

Early Anniversary Celebration

My husband and I were able to sneak away last weekend for an early 15th anniversary celebration. It’s never an easy feat to get all the moving parts (aka kids) where they need to be when we head out for a night away. But the efforts made to have a date night are worth it!

We started out the night at a glass making class. It was so fun to venture outside of our usual dinner date and try something different!

It required some serious concentration! We sure didn’t want to get burned!

I’m going to be honest here, the class was a little more intense than I expected and, story for another day, our teacher was not all that patient with us new learners. BUT, we had a lot of fun and have fun little glass souvenirs as a keepsake for the night.

We then headed downtown for a night on the town. Our favorite spot of the night was a bar at the top of our hotel.

The next morning we were able to squeeze in a hike in the park and brunch at one of our favorite spots. It was a great celebration! Of course I do not have a single picture of the two of us from the whole weekend.

We hit the ground running as soon as we got home and we took the kids to their piano recital. This was another highlight of the week!

So fun to watch them play and see how much they’ve grown in their skills in the last year.

Patio Finds

We had a few beautiful weather days at the beginning of the week which got my mind spinning on our outdoor to do list! I stopped in a few stores on Monday and everything looked good! That’s what happens when you haven’t been to your favorite stores in a few weeks. So I ended up finding a few FUN things for our outdoor spaces at my favorite spot Homegoods!

I purchased a pillow, the gingham plates and a utensil caddy. One of my favorite hacks is to have plastic utensils and melamine plates stored right near our door to the patio, then we can quickly grab everything and head outside for dinner! This caddy will be perfect for storing our disposable utensils!

I was SO EXCITED to find these navy gingham melamine plates! I’ve already got a navy, red and white theme on our covered patio, so these things will all fit in so well!

Fun Concert

Another highlight of the week, was going to the Indigo Girls concert! This is my second concert this year as my daughter and I saw PINK in March. The concert was at a small venue, Music Box Supper Club, which could not have been a more perfect spot for this concert.

Another instance that I wish we would have taken more pictures,  but we were too busy enjoying the evening. Their performance was amazing and it was a fun girls night out. However, I definitely required more coffee on Wednesday after a late night!!

Royal Excitement

Well between Princess Kate having her baby and Prince Harry’s wedding coming up, there has been a lot of royal excitement!

Of course, the talk this week was on how stunning Princess Kate looked seven hours after having a baby! Can you imagine?!

Does anyone else love following the Royal family news?! My daughter and Princess Kate’s daughter share the same first and middle name (Charlotte Elizabeth)… we enjoy keeping up with their family!

Seven years ago, we had a tea party princess play date with some friends when Prince William and Princess Kate got married. This week I saw this display at World Market, and I am feeling inspired to create a little English breakfast and watch the Royal Wedding in a few weeks.

Planning for the Royal Wedding

Stay tuned for a few festive (but easy) ideas for watching the Royal Wedding!

Birthday Celebration

Finally, this Saturday, my middle guy turns NINE! I love birthday celebrations if only it meant the kids wouldn’t get any older! Boohoo!! It’s always fun when your birthday falls on an actual WEEKEND! So he will have a full day of fun with family and friends. He asked for a small get together with a few friends, so we are letting him have a sleepover! It’ll be a late night for all of us I’m sure!

Cheers to Friday! I hope you have a great weekend and see you back here soon!

Your date night sounds like so much fun and I lol at the fact that your teachers wasn’t very patient! You must have been so proud at the piano recital- what an accomplishment for your kiddos! I also imagine that the Indigo Girls concert as amazing- have a great weekend celebrating your middle one Jaclyn!
