Hi Friends! Hope you are having a good week! This week has been moving a little slow…even my daughter commented that it feels like it should be Friday! Thankfully it almost is the weekend. Today I am sharing our September Date Night in Box. Technically, this was the August date night but I just got around to writing about our experience. These Date Night In Boxes are perfect because we can schedule them for whenever we want–no sitter required! The theme of this month’s box was Dream Together.
This is our third Date Night in Box (you can read about our other two boxes here and here). Each of the boxes have been so different! We’ve had a silly one and an active one . This month’s box falls in the more thoughtful and relaxed category!
September Date Night in Box
So what is this Date Night in Box all about? This box contains all the instructions and materials you need for a date night at home. The instructional booklet provides recipes for an optional dinner menu. It is not a requirement to make dinner for the date night. I’ll be honest that we decided to do this box spontaneously, so we did not make the suggested dinner. I love this feature about the Date Night Box…you can do as much or as little as you want and it is still fun!
Since we didn’t have dinner beforehand, we got started right on the activity. Also, I should mention that a play list is included for your date. This is another optional feature but it is so nice to have every little detail organized! The first part of our date was to create a DREAM LIST. We were each given a piece of paper to jot down some ideas for our own dreams. You are given some prompts and guidance to get the ideas going!
This box included a Northern Light Vanilla scented candle. It was a nice little touch to set the mood!
After a few minutes, we were instructed to share our dreams and goals with one another. This was a nice chance to really think about our goals and dreams….it is so easy to be laser focused on the day to day! We shared a lot of similar goals which included a lot of travel and adventure in the coming years!
This activity can take as long or as little as you want to keep the discussion going! Next, we moved on to a joint activity to create a DREAM CATCHER. The task itself was admittedly a little on the cheesy side, but we had a few laughs and it kept the mood light!
The project took a little bit of time but we enjoyed laughing about our craft making skills!
Then it was snack time! There is usually a fun little related snack in the box. This month was Beef Jerky which was loved by my husband. It was a yummy treat but we weren’t sure on the tie in of the snack with this month’s theme.
Lastly, we played a fun game of Scattegories: Dream Together Edition. This activity was probably my favorite! I forgot how much I love Scattergories. This game was customized to the date and the categories focused on topics related to our family. We had so much fun with this game! They provided a few extra game cards so we can play again another time! It’ll be fun to bring this game out again sometime soon.
As a bonus, there were ideas for extending the Date Night In which included inspiring movies related to dreams and goals! We opted to extend our date by catching up on our favorite Netflix series!
Review of Dream Together Night In Box
Overall, this was a very fun and relaxing date! I loved that we did not have to do any prep work and we could stay cozy on the couch! The Date Night instruction booklet was beautifully illustrated and written. It is rare that we sit down together and plan out our short and long term goals, so I think this was a very meaningful date! While the reality is that you could easily sit down with your partner and have these meaningful discussions. The reality is that it is not something that you always think about doing with your spouse. I like that these Date Night In boxes push us out of our comfort zone and we do activities that we normally wouldn’t do on our own.
How The Date Night in Box Works
The Date Night in Box provides all the tools and instructions you need to have a unique date night at home experience! When you open up the box, you first need to read the instructions booklet. Most months, the box comes with a link to a playlist of music for the date as well as a recommended menu. This box allows you have have a complete night in with very little preparation on your part!
When you consider all the effort it can take to plan a date night out (coordinate schedules, find a sitter, get dressed up), I think the Date Night in Box is way more enticing!!
