Kids Night in Box Review

Happy Monday! I hope you had a great weekend! Our two big kids were in a play all weekend plus we got our family pictures taken yesterday, so I feel like we barely had time to catch our breath! And now this week, it’s Halloween. Phew! Anyway, last week, we were sent a Kids Night in Box to review and I feel like timing could not have been better. This box was a Halloween theme and it included all of the materials and ideas needed to create a fun family activity. Last year,  you might remember that I organized a family boo bash right before Halloween. But the last few weeks have been hectic and I haven’t had time to get another little celebration together. So the Kids Night in Box saved me from having to plan anything extra!

The Kids Night In Box is made by the same company that created Date Night in Boxes. We have tried three of the Date Night in Boxes, so I decided to give the Kids Night in Box a try. Spoiler alert: We LOVED the Kids Night in Box.

Kids Night in Box Review

Before we got started on the Kids Night in Box, I made sure to review all of the instructions on my own. Because I knew once we got started, my kids would be fast and furious going through all of the activities.

There were a lot of activities in this box including:

Two recipes for Halloween themed snacks

Haunted House Craft Kit

Halloween Book

Create a Chalk Drawing of a Haunted House

Crepe Paper Obstacle Course

Dancing Ghost Activity

Popcorn Snack

I’m glad I had three little helpers because it would have taken a long time for just me and one of the kids to go through the activities. It was fun for everyone to pick out what they wanted to do and “own” that activity.

There were two yummy Halloween themed recipes that were optional to make. We opted to make the white chocolate covered Oreos because we are not ones to turn down dessert.

Everyone wanted to help with this activity. Actually my daughter led most of this activity while my middle guy read the Halloween book to everyone. This worked out so well and it was fun for everyone to be involved.

While the chocolate was setting on the Oreos, we got to work on the other activities. My nine year old took charge of making the haunted house.

My daughter worked on the chalk drawing activity. The booklet gave detailed instructions on how to draw a Haunted House using chalk.

She was so excited to get a nice set of chalk that she can now use for other projects!

Review of the Kids Night In Box #subscriptionbox #kidsgiftideas #crafts #awesome

This little guy worked on paper ghosts that were part of a cute activity called dancing ghosts. For this activity, we had to blow up the included balloon and then get it a little “staticy”. My daughter used this as a chance to mess with her brother to get the required static.

Then you put the balloon near the paper ghosts and the ghosts dance! So cute!!

Then it was time for a snack! The corn cob and microwave bag was included in this box. We had so much fun popping this corn. What a cute activity!!

The kids decided to take what was left of the corn cob outside (as there was some popcorn stuck to the cob) to share with the birds and squirrels:)

The last activity was to create an obstacle course with crepe paper. My kids decided to wrap themselves up as mummies with the crepe paper instead. They were having fun so I sure didn’t mind that we didn’t follow the activity as suggested. What’s so nice about the Kids Night in Box is that you can do as much or as little as you want and you are free to modify activities as you want!

All told, we spent a little over an hour completing all of the activities in the Kids Night in Box. At the ages and stages we are at right now with the kids, it is rare that we spend a solid hour together working together on a activity.

As much as we have loved the Date Night in Boxes, I have to say that I really enjoyed the Kids Night in Box. The kids all said how much fun it was and they genuinely enjoyed the time we had together.

Oh my gosh Jaclyn- I love this idea even more than the Date Night one. How fun! Do they match the themes to holidays for the kids? I can’t even imagine what they do for Christmas….I may just have to try this! Thanks for sharing- looks like the kids had a blast and awesome quality time 🙂

Hi Holly- It is such a fun box and I just checked and the November theme is “give thanks”, so it’s more than likely December will be a holiday theme as well.
I just updated my post with a coupon code I found!
