My First Stitch Fix Review

Happy Thursday! I am back today with another subscription box review! If you have been following my blog, you might know that I have been a loyal customer of Evereve’s Trendsend Service (my last review here). But, I decide to branch out and try Stitch Fix. Both clothing subscription boxes have their pros and cons, which I will share with you in a moment. Today, I will share my December Stitch Fix Review!

How Stitch Fix Works

First, in case you are not familiar with Stitch Fix, I’ll give you the scoop. It is a clothing subscription box that delivers you five pieces each month. The items can include tops, bottoms, accessories, shoes and coats! You have the option to decide what type of pieces you want and do not want. There are various price points and you can select how much you are willing to spend in each category.

There is a $20 styling fee that will be applied to your order if you decide to keep anything. Otherwise you do not get back the $20 fee. You fill out a very detailed style profile to help your stylist select things that are your style.

Stitch Fix Details

The nice thing about Stitch Fix is that if you keep all five items, you will receive a 25% discount off your order.  Stitch Fix offers  women’s sizes 0-24W & XS-3X,. They also offer subscriptions for me and children! My daughter just tried out a Stitch Fix Kids box!

The average price point is $55 per item but you can decide how much you are willing to pay for each category–pants, tops, accessories, etc. The Stitch Fix women’s line works with over 250 established and up and coming brands. There is clothing for every style type–classic, preppy, edgy, etc! They even offer athleisure clothing.

What I Received in My Stitch Fix Box

So, now the details of my first fix! You receive a detailed note with all of your items and suggested outfit pairings. I will admit that when I opened the box, there was nothing that immediately caught my eye. But I did end up liking several of the items.

Market & Spruce Striped Knit Top $58

The first item I tried was this top in my favorite pattern–stripes! I loved how this top felt and that it was long enough to wear with leggings.

It would certainly be on rotation for my daily “mom uniform”. I already own a lot of striped tops and it is a little on the pricier side for a long sleeve tee. But I do appreciate that this item fit my style profile.

Rowca Crew Neck Sweater $68

This next top is a medium thickness sweater in a olive color. I do not own a lot of green tops so I appreciate that it is a different color. The sweater was also long and I could wear with leggings or black pants.

REV Leopard Cardigan $78

It is hard to resist a cute animal print! I love cardigans and especially when it is a longer one. However, I am particular on my sweater textures and this one is very itchy.

Pale Sky Embroidered Tassel Blouse $74

I’m going to admit that I usually don’t like tassel blouses. I never know what to do with the tassels! This top grew on me when I tried it on but the pattern was a little busy for me.

This top was a nice, dressier option in my box but it was not really “me”.

41 Hawthorn Velvet Halter Top

Lastly, I received this velvet top in a pretty wine color. I have really been wanting a velvet top for the holiday season. However, I am not interested in a tank option. The stylist note did have suggestions for how to wear this top, however, I do not own any of the suggestions. Bare shoulders and arms in the winter in Ohio is not a realistic outfit option for me!
Stitch Fix Review Fall 2018

So what did I keep? Overall, I was satisfied with my first Stitch Fix. I know that it takes time for them to hone in on my style, so I did not expect the first box to be a perfect match.

I decided to keep the Olive Crew Neck Sweater. Actually I decided to order the next size up in the sweater. It was a very easy process and I did not have any shipping charges to make the exchange!

Differences between Stitch Fix and Trendsend

So now that I have tried Stitch Fix am I going to cancel Trendsend? I think both services have their pros and cons. I like that Stitch Fix sources from such a vast selection of clothing while Trendsend is picking clothes from their local stores (Evereve locations). I like that Trendsend sends you 8-10 pieces, so you have a bigger selection to pick from. By receiving so many items, you end up with 2-3 outfit choices. However, on that note, if you were to keep an entire box of Trendsend, it would be extremely costly….and there is no discount. It is much more manageable to pick all five items from Stitch Fix and receive the 25% discount.

I really think Stitch Fix hones in on your style and finds the best possible selections for you. Everyday you can log on to the Stitch Fix app and take style quizzes on whether you like particular items. The more quizzes you take, the more you will get items that are things you will like.

I decided to schedule a “fix” every month for the next few months in hopes that they might narrow in on my style. I’m excited to receive my next one in January.

I did Stitch Fix once. I don’t like the price points they have, though I tend to really like the clothing options! I like that striped top as well as the one you kept.

I find Stitchfix to be Hit or Miss- sometimes I love everything and other times I ask, “is this person really listening to my feedback?” Anyway- it helps to give me fashion ideas even when I do not keep items- hope you enjoy!

I haven’t jumped into trying stitch fix yet but from what I have read it is really good. Everyone I have talked to like what they receive.

All of those items were very cute. They seemed to fit you well which is great. The prices do seem a bit high…hopefully, they are high quality. Thanks for the review!

Those tops look so amazing on you! I’m always a sucker for olive green sweaters. I’ve tried Stitch Fix and haven’t had any luck, maybe I’ll try again!
