What’s Up Wednesday December

Happy Wednesday! I hope you are having a great week. Today is my kids official first day of winter break! Our agenda for today includes baking and decorating a lot of cookies!  Today, I am linking up with  ShaySheaffer, and Mel  for What’s Up Wednesday. It’s nice to look back on the month and review some of the highlights! This post is one week earlier than normal due to next week’s holiday week.   Anyway, today I will share my December Favorites and what we have been up to lately.

What We are Eating…

This is a busy week and we aren’t having many dinners at home. We are keeping things very simple around here when we are eating at home!

I have been making this Autumn Panzanella Salad on repeat since I first made in on Thanksgiving. It is a perfect lunch salad! I love this salad because if you don’t have one of the ingredients it is still so good!

I’m trying to get in any salad that I can because let’s be real, Christmas cookies are too hard to resist. I saw this recipe for a 4 ingredient Candy Cane Cake Mix cookie recipe on Instagram the other day and I had to get the ingredients for it. We made them after school yesterday to kick off the winter break. So yummy!!

What I’m looking forward to…

All the focus is on Christmas right now, but I am also thinking about our New Years Eve tradition. We will be traveling to see our good friends (we take turns making the trip every year). Each year we try to make it a fun, family friendly celebration. You can read about our past New Year’s parties here: 2018 Recap and 2017 Recap!

What I am remisincing about…

Last weekend Santa made a visit to our house. Every year I think it’ll be the last year the kids will want him to visit and yet every year the kids ask if he will be coming.

I love having Santa stop at our house instead of fighting the crowds to see Santa at the mall! Nothing can top how excited my little guy was last year though.

I’m glad this Christmas tradition continued on another year!

What I am working on…

This past Monday, Keri and I  wrapped up the 2018 Clear the Clutter Challenge.  The final organization challenge of the year was Toy Organization! I know we are all short on time right now, so I shared tips to Declutter Toys in Under an Hour!

What I am wearing…

A mix of fun and cozy outfits! On Monday, my mom and I got out for a pre Christmas dinner plus we did a little shopping! There were some great sales going on! Everything in both GAP and Express was 50% off! Two things I have wanted in the way of holiday style is something velvet and something with sequins! I found both of those things at the GAP.

This sequin top was 50% at the store. This top would look great with black pants or a skirt. I am planning to wear this top on NYE. Although we are pretty casual so I’ll probably pair it with jeans.

The inside of this top is SUPER SOFT! I would not have gotten it if it had been scratchy on the inside. I will admit that this top is delicate and it will require some special care to make sure it does not get snagged on anything!

Also, I found this black velvet dress. It looks like it is sold out online but there are some other velvet options!

It is hard to find velvet in long sleeves—everything I see is sleeveless. So I was very excited to find this dress. I plan to wear this dress on Christmas.

Cozy and comfy is my day to day look, so I have been wearing this outfit on repeat.

I got these Bearpaw boots as an early Christmas gift. I have been wanting Ugg type boots but I couldn’t justify getting actually Uggs. Living in the Midwest, these type of boots only hold up a year or two –Uggs or any brand! I am so happy with inexpensive option these boots especially because they were half the cost of Uggs (Black Friday deal).

What I am watching…

As usual,  I am always a little late to the TV show party. But I just found The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and I am obsessed. Such a cute, funny and upbeat show with an awesome cast! I love that it is set in New York City (in the late 1950s). The outfits are AMAZING! If you haven’t seen this series, I highly recommend adding it to your list.

I JUST finished the  second season and it is going to be a LONG wait until Season 3. They are not set to start filming a new season until Spring 2019. Ugh!

Anyway, that wraps up my December favorites! I’m looking forward to the holidays and spending time with the kids during their winter break. In a few weeks, though I am sure we will all be ready for school to start again. Isn’t that always the case? 🙂

Love the velvet dress! I just ordered two dresses from Amazon for the company Christmas party, both with sleeves. Especially in the winter, I like to have a dress with sleeves.
