There are so many fun things at Trader Joe’s and I am going to share our favorites with you! It is a great place to shop for unique grocery items! While I do not do all of my shopping at Trader Joe’s (I also love Aldi’s!), I do like to pop into it once or month or so. My kids LOVE when I make a Trader Joe’s run because the snacks and treats are the best! When I come home from Trader Joe’s everyone volunteers to help bring in the groceries and to be the first one to check out all the goods! We have so many favorite Trader Joe’s snacks.
If (or more like when) your kids come home hungry after school, these Trader Joe snack ideas are great options! I’ve rounded up over 25 of our Trader Joe’s favorites that are perfect for kids and adults! Be sure to grab the free Trader Joe snack list printable at the end of this post!
Healthy Snack Ideas
I try to pack as much punch into our after school snacks as possible. Depending on what time the kids come home and when we plan to eat dinner, will dictate what kind of snack we have. If it were up to my kids, they’d probably eat an entire box of crackers or multiple bowls of cereal! But I offer them healthy snack options that will fill them up but not too much so that they don’t eat dinner.
Trader Joe’s has a lot of healthy snack options including some that are a little different your usual choices.
Trader Joe’s Favorite Healthy Snack Options Include:
Organic Low Fat Yogurt Squishers (we like to freeze these and make more like a popsicle treat!)
Fresh Fruit (they offer a lot of pre-sliced produce for extra convenience)
Nuts and Seeds (Prices are a little higher than Aldi but still a good deal.)
Dried Fruit (Mango, Banana, Apples, ect)
Mini Bagels and Cream Cheese
Veggies and Hummus (so many good varieties)*
Frozen Fruit –for smoothies!
*Although I love making my own hummus and Trader Joe’s has a great tahini dressing to use to make it.
My kids’ favorites snacks are some of Trader Joe’s boxed varieties. These snacks don’t go very far in our house, so I have to pace my crew:) I like that most of their snacks have healthier ingredients that your typical kid snack options.
Some of the kids’ favorites include:
Cheddar Rocket Crackers
Mini Peanut Butter Sandwich Crackers
Mini Cheese Sandwich Crackers
Fruit Cereal Bars
Kids Z Bars
Cinnamon Alphabet Letter Crackers
Cereal including Cinnamon Squares and Fruity O’s
Peanut Butter Filled Pretzels
Honey Wheat Pretzel Sticks
Frozen Waffles (top with peanut butter for an afternoon treat!)
There are so many fun treats at Trader Joe’s! My favorite treat is their roasted plantain chips with guacamole. We always come home with a chocolate treat or two! These chocolate covered blueberries are a new favorite of mine!
It is fun to pick up a few things for my husband and I that usually my kids will not eat. This last trip to Trader Joe’s I discovered this Green Goddess dressing and it is SO good! I used this dressing on top of their bagged kale salad and I can’t get enough. YUM! My Trader Joe’s cashier said it is an extremely popular item! I can see why. I love that the ingredients are clean and all natural.
Also, I love these beet crackers (the kids love them too!) paired with hummus. This buffalo style hummus is so good too! Their kalamata olives are a great deal and I love them on salads and also for snacking.
There are so many fun products at Trader Joe’s that it is easy to fill a cart and rack up a big grocery bill. However, as I mentioned, I can not do all of our family’s grocery shopping at TJ. I find that some of their prices are a little higher on things like meat and produce. Once a month or so, it is fun to mix up our snack routine with these Trader Joe’s options!
