Green Milkshake Recipe for St. Patrick’s Day
This past weekend, we celebrated St. Patrick’s Day a little early with these Lucky Charms milkshakes. These milkshakes are a little twist on Shamrock Shakes. It has been years since I have had a Shamrock Shake. While I imagine they taste pretty good, I think these homemade St. Patrick’s day milkshakes are a tad healthier. What makes these milkshakes fun is that you can customize -with your favorite green ice cream and your favorite candy!
My daughter and I were actually on a hunt for chocolate gold coins to add on top of the milkshakes. However, we came home empty handed. So, use whatever festive topping you have (like the green flags I used) to add a final touch to your milkshake.
[recipe title=”St. Patrick’s Day Lucky Charms Milkshake” servings=”2″ time=”5 mins” difficulty=”easy”]3 1/2 Cups Favorite Green Ice Cream, packed {Mint, Mint Chocolate Chip, Lime, Pistachio}*
2/3 Cup Whole Milk
Whipped Cream
Lucky Charms
Chocolate Gold Coins, Skittles or Rainbow Fruit Roll Up are fun options too!
- Add ice cream and milk to a blender. Pulse until you reach your desired consistency. For a thinner milkshake, add in more milk.
- Pour milkshake into glass mugs.
- Top with whipped cream and lucky charms! Enjoy!
*If you want to have a really “green” effect to your ice cream (as the milk will water down the green color), you could use a a few drops of green food coloring. This natural food coloring set is my favorite. (mix blue and yellow coloring)
[/recipe]Do your kids make leprachaun traps? My kids started making them a few years ago and each year they make the traps more and more elaborate. Unfortunately, the leprachaun outwits them every year. The kids are usually rewarded with a few gold coins. Hint: You can actually get $1 gold coins at the bank! This year, I think we will also reward the kids with these milkshakes too.
St. Patrick’s Day Kid Friendly Recipe Ideas
