Christmas Gifts Ideas for Tween Boys
The other day, I was talking to my ten year old about Christmas gifts and what his age group wants for Christmas and we realized he is a tween! Funny how I categorized my daughter in the ‘tween’ stage when she was his age. However, I hadn’t really thought about my son as a tween. He and I laughed about the tween term and then I asked him to help me come up with some fun gifts for tween boys. Let’s face it, most tween boys when you ask them will say they want video games, money or something sporty. So, I asked my son to dig a little deeper and think about some gifts that would be FUN to open on Christmas morning. Even though tween boys age out of the toy department, it is still fun to find them some unique and playful gifts for Christmas.
The older kids get, the smaller the size of the Christmas gift piles! Everything tweens and teens want for Christmas can be so expensive.
Most of the tween boy gift ideas we came up with are very reasonable. We have something in every price category. Take a look at let me know what your Tween Boy would like for Christmas.
Top Christmas Gifts for Tween Boys
Whether your tween boys is into sports, games, math or science, there are fun gifts out there for Christmas!
For Tweens Who Like to Read
Each of my kids always gets a few books for Christmas. This year, the hot book series for tween boys is Diary of a Wimpy Kid. The latest book, Wrecking Ball, was just released in November and it had my son laughing the entire time he read it!
Do your kids love Harry Potter? My oldest two both love the series and we have enjoyed reading the books aloud to the kids. There is a beautiful Harry Potter Illustrated Book set and each year we add to the kids’ collection. These are gorgeous books that will be keepsakes for years to come.
Gifts for the Gamer
If you can’t beat them, join them right? My boys are pretty much obsessed with their video game time. These fun socks would make any gamer a happy!
I’ve been eyeing one of these gaming chairs for my tween boy as I know he would love it. As an added feature, this rocking chair has wireless speakers!
If you have a series gaming boy on your hands, you could really wow him with this Countertop Pac-Man Game. This counter top Pac-Man game stands at 18 inches tall and it would make a great addition to a game or rec room!
Or, if you are looking for a less expensive Pac-Man option, check out this small Pac-Man Arcade. My seven year old has this version and he loves it!
Science and Tech Tweens
When it is time to turn the video games but it is too cold to play outside, we get out our favorite STEM toys. All of my kids have loved this Snap Circuit Set. The instructions are very easy to follow and this is a great independant play activity.
It is probably one of the most used toys in our entire family and every single one of our kids has enjoyed it.
While technically, this next gift is still an electronic gadget, at least it does not involve a screen. My ten year old bought himself an Echo during the Prime sale. He uses the Echo multiple times of day including listening to music, asking Alexa to tell jokes, playing bedtime tunes and checking the weather. I already ordered my tween girl an Echo.
One way to get the kids to do a little science without even realizing it is to make some Gummy Bears! This Gummy Bear Making Kit has been fun for the whole family. My son does not spend a lot of time in the kitchen, so this Gummy Bear kit has been a good lesson in measuring and learning to be detailed with cooking instructions.
It is a very fun set!
For the science loving tween boy, this telescope kit would make a great Christmas gift! My son has the perfect window to look out into the sky and he has been asking for a good telescope. These telescopes can be very expensive, but this reasonable one has a solid 4 star rating from Amazon.
I’ll be honest that I have a love hate relationship with Legos. I love them because they occupy the kids for HOURS (especially over a long winter break). But, as a mom who loves a clutter free home, Legos can be a bit of a challenge:) Good thing my ten year old loves to keep his Lego sets intact and display them on shelves.
He is all into Mindcraft this year, so he has several Lego sets on his wish list.
My ten year old loves to play board games with me. Usually before bed, we decide on a quick game to play. We got Exploding Kittens last year for Christmas and it has been a favorite.
If your family does not have the classic Simon game, consider adding it to your Christmas list. This is a great game that can be played solo or with a friend. It is great to work on concentration and memory!
We have had Simon for years and it is still a top game in our rotation.
Outdoor Play for Tween Boys
Our new favorite outdoor game is this Capture the Flag. It is by the same company as the Laser X game (which the boys also LOVE). Capture the Flag is a great game to do with a group of friends or neighbors. The kids divide up in teams and wear color coded bracelets to designate sides. The teams race to capture each other’s light sensors.
Very fun to do when it is dark outside!
You can take your boy’s outdoor play up a notch with an Electric Razor Scooter. My kids have gotten a ton of play out of the regular Razor Scooters, so I know they would love one of these. This particular version has near perfect ratings and is a good price point for electric scooters.
Seriously, you can not go wrong with a Nerf Blaster for a boy of any age! My boys always check out every single Nerf blaster every time we go to Target.
I have to say that I love how much energy the kids burn off when they run around with there Nerf toys!

Online Money Saving Tip
We all know how quickly the holiday spending adds up. One of my favorite ways to save a little money when I do my online Christmas Shopping is to always use Ebates Rakuten. I have been using Ebates for YEARS and have earned hundreds of dollaars back in reward checks.
There are no gimmicks or catches to Ebates. You download the app or add it to your desktop toolbar. Everytime you do any online shopping you go to Ebates to see what kind of cash back rewards you can earn for the store. Some stores have really high cash back rewards. Sometimes, the rewards change depending on the season. Now is the time of year that there are always great Ebates rewards.
Use my referral code and earn $10 after you spend $25 dollars worth of online purchases!
I just wanted to save this money saving tip with you so you can save during the holiday season!
