DIY FAMILY CLIPBOARD CALENDAR
It is that time of year that we all try to get organized. There is something about a new planner or calendar at the start of a new year that is so refreshing! Recently, I picked out my own planner that I use for the blog and personal tasks. In addition, our family also keeps a clipboard calendar for all of our main activities.
I have used a Clipboard Calendar for almost 5 years and it is the one organization method that has truly “stuck” in our family! Today, I’ll share how to make a DIY Family Clipboard Calendar and some tips for using this method.
The main reason that this Family Clipboard Calendar has worked so well is because it is so simple and easy to use. The clipboard calendar is perfect because it is PORTABLE. While a family wall calendar can be really useful, it is stuck in one spot. (Perhaps a spot that everyone starts to overlook over time!). You could easily hang this clipboard on the wall and remove it when you need to write on it.
We are constantly moving our clipboard from the kitchen to the family room back to the kitchen. I mainly keep it on our kitchen island, but when it is not in use I can stick it off to the side in a corner of our kitchen.
The family calendar doesn’t take up space and it is not visible to guests.

PRINTABLE BLANK MONTHLY CALENDAR PAGES
Every year, I search for free printable monthly calendar pages for the family clipboard. This year, I decided to make my own calendar pages and leave them without dates so I can use year after year. The first year, I started the family clipboard calendar, I bought the clipboard and monthly pages for around $10. Now, I use the clipboard year after year and get the calendar pages for free. Talk about an inexpensive calendar!!
MOM TIP: Be sure to print out an extra January page for the following year! Inevitably, as the end of the year rolls around, you are already scheduling dates for the following year.
FAMILY CALENDAR TIPS
Most busy moms can tell you, it is no easy feat keeping all of your family’s activities organized. I try my best to write everything down, but inevitably some things fall through the cracks. This family calendar does keep us on mostly on track!
Use this family clipboard to keep track of:
- After School Activities
- Doctor Appointments
- Hair Appointments
- Vacations/Days Off of School

- Any commitment that the entire family (or most of the family) needs to know about.
Use the “Notes” section of the calendar for important tasks for the month that have not been scheduled.
Some of these tasks may include:

- Home Maintenance
- Appointments that Need to Be Scheduled
- Phone Calls to Be Made

HOW TO MAKE A FAMILY CLIPBOARD CALENDAR
Once you have downloaded and printed the calendar pages (Be sure to save on your computer so you can print again next year!), grab a pretty clipboard (like this ONE).In addition, a set of new colorful pens is always fun! I don’t fuss with color coding everyone’s activities. But, I do like the calendar to look colorful, so I use these fine tipped colored pens.
While I know there are a lot of digital options for family calendars, I can’t get away from this simple and basic paper and pen calendar method! If you are trying to get the whole family organized, it can be best to stick to an organization method that is easy for everyone to understand and use!
