Friday Favorites: Good Vibes, Family Album and Book Reviews

Happy Friday from snowy Ohio! Just as we are finishing up February, now we get all the snow. Hopefully, there will be a chance for the kids to get outside because we haven’t even gone sledding this winter! Anyway, as usual, it is time for Friday Favorites which includes favorites in home, style and family!

One| Good Vibes Sweatshirt

One of our favorite evenings of the week is when the boys get to go to Code Ninjas. It works out because it is near a big shopping plaza, so I usually run into a couple of stores. This week, I popped into Old Navy. While Old Navy seems to be hit or miss for me, one thing I do love there is there graphic sweatshirts. I was so excited about this Good Vibes Sweatshirt I found. It looks like more expensive ones you see around and the quality is great.

The “good vibes” wording is actually stitched (and not just a iron decal). So cozy and cute.

I’ve already worn the  Good Vibes sweatshirt several times and I know I will love wearing it on cooler nights in the summer.

Two| Photo Organization

Another favorite of the week was getting our 2019 Family Photo Album in the mail. It was such a relief to complete a photo book. Truth be told, I still need to do a 2018 and 2017 book, but I decided to start with the most recent year first.

One reason I procrastinated in putting a book together was that I felt overwhelmed. I decided that done was better than perfect, so I stuck to a super simple book design. There were no captions for each picture and I didn’t analyze picture layout all that much. The nice thing Collage.com (the service I used), which I am sure is true for most companies, is that they give you a layout and you just have to approve.

I moved a few pictures around, but otherwise, I didn’t fuss too much.

What made this project super easy was that I had already uploaded pictures for our 2019 photo collage. So I used a lot of the same photos.

Now, I need to do the last several years of photo albums. Knowing that this project will take less than an hour per book is a relief. So I just need to make the time and do it!

Three| February Book Review

Our weekends are currently filled with all day sports tournaments, so I usually have a little more time do some reading (while waiting around for the next game to start). I just finished two books this last week:  Educated and Orphan’s Tale.

Educated is a memoir about a woman’s childhood grouping up in a fundamentalist Mormon family in Idaho. While I have seen the book mentioned a lot, I had no idea what is was about. I couldn’t put it down, such a interesting and often times hard to read book.

Orphan’s Tale is a fictional WWII story about a Circus. While it is fictional, the author did loosely base her story on a traveling circus during WWII. I am drawn to WWII books and just when I think I have read them all, I find another one. I really liked this book which centered on the friendship of two women.

You can see the books I’ve read in 2020 in my Amazon Store.

Four| Spring Break Plans

After a few days of snow, we are dreaming of warmer weather. Our spring break plans, which is not until mid April, includes a trip to California. We will spend part of our spring break traveling and part of it just relaxing at home.

Earlier this week, I shared some Spring Break Staycation Ideas.

Fun that we both hit up Old Navy this week! I take so many pictures that even focused photo books are hard for me. I have made them for trips we’ve been on and they are fun to look at, but most often I skip making them when I should!
