How to Keep Clean Fabric Face Masks Organized
This post can certainly be filed in “topics I never thought I’d blog about”. But here we are, 2020 has certainly brought us a lot of surprises! Honestly, as face masks have become part of the norm of every day living, my family does not even think twice about wearing them to go to stores and public places. It is an easy way to do our part in this challenging time.
One thing that has become problematic about wearing face masks is KEEPING TRACK OF THEM! Can you relate? With 5 family members and multiple face masks each, I am constantly looking around for our face masks. Plus, it is lot to keep track of clean face masks versus the ones we have already worn. I try to wash a load of face masks every few days. Depending on how frequently we have left the house and have had to wear the fabric masks.
My kids leave their masks in the car, their rooms, or hand them to me after we leave a store. Somehow, our face masks are never where we need them to be!

So, I came up with a super simple way to organize fabric masks! Now, when we leave or enter the house, we know exactly where to put our fabric face masks. I also know which masks need to be washed and which ones are newly cleaned.
To organize fabric masks you just need a few things:
- Fabric Face Masks
- 2 Bins (one for clean masks and one for dirty masks)
- Clean Dirty Signs (Download HERE)
DIY Fabric Mask Organization Station
I found a pack of 3 black bins at my local Dollar Store. These bins have a handle which makes it nice for transporting the dirty masks to the laundry!
Set up the two bins and attach a clean and a dirty sign to each of the baskets.
Be sure to set up this face mask organization station somewhere that gets a lot of traffic. Preferably near the door that you go in and out of in your house!
One thing I always make sure to do when I set up a new organization system in the house is to let everyone know about it! This set is key to ensuring that everyone in the family understands and adheres to the new system!
Fabric Face Masks for School
Our kids will be required to wear masks to school when they go back in the fall. So, I want to be sure we have a good way to keep track of all of our face masks. Having this simple organization system for their face masks will ensure that the kids always have a clean mask to wear to school.
Right now, my kids have a few fabric masks each, but I think they will need at least one for every day of the week when school starts. Face masks are turning into a fashion statement, so I know the kids will want a say in what masks they wear to school.
Face Masks for Kids
This 5 pack of face masks for girls is a good deal and you have one for every day of the school week.
The small size of these face masks works well for kids under 12. My boys like the sport look of them.
Old Navy has a TON of fabric face mask options for kids. There is a pattern for every one.
If you want show your style, it is fun to find unique face masks on Etsy. The boys face masks are from this Etsy shop.
