Happy Friday! It has been a long week. Maybe we’ve just been anticipating a holiday weekend, but I have to say it has been dragging along. But, good news is that Friday is HERE! Here’s to the last blast of summer! We’ve got a fun weekend planned, but first, I am here today to share some Friday Favorites. This week includes some latest Kirklands decor finds, a new adorable fall doormat and a heart to heart conversation I had with my son:)

Latest Kirklands Home Decor Finds

Pumpkin Spice Lattes came out this week and it seems that occasion almost marks the start of Fall. I actually am one of the few people that do not like PSLs, but I find ways to enjoy pumpkins in just about everything else! Anyway, it seems the stores are brimming with all things FALL!

Earlier this week, my mom and I got to do a little shopping while the kids were at school. Kirklands has ALL THE FALL decor!

These FALL pillows at Kirklands are so pretty. Even if you don’t do much in the way of seasonal decor, swapping out pillows is such an easy change. Love the plaid pillow options and the rust colored pillows are so pretty!

We’ve had crisper mornings and cool evenings and it really does feel like fall is in the air. I’m sure warm weather will be back soon, but in the meantime, this weather does get us in the fall mood.

How cute is this Thankful Chalkboard?? You might remember our November Thankful Chalkboard Tradition I talked about HERE. This thankful chalkboard would be perfect if you want to start the tradition. Bring out this sign during the season of gratitude and have everyone add to it all month long.

The Halloween displays were even so cute, just about got me in the mood to decorate. Every year I go back and forth on whether to put out any Halloween decor? It kind of breaks up the fall decor flow, but yet I find myself putting out the spooky decor because my kids love it. Do you decorate for Halloween?

Hello Pumpkin Doormat

I mentioned a while back that Michael’s has a huge selection of fall home decor. There are so many things that caught my eye. Last week, I stopped into a Michael’s and there was a BUY ONE GET ONE FREE sale going on with all fall decor. So I came home with two things!

This Hello Pumpkin doormat was too adorable to pass up. I am in the process of updating our small front porch area, so I made the swap from our Lemon Doormat to this Pumpkin one. I love layering doormats as it really gives the front door an extra pop. I’ve had the black and white doormat for almost two years now and it has held up so well. Unfortunately, it is not available (as I get asked about it all the time), but these Buffalo Check outdoor rugs are just as adorable!!

It was a buy one get one free sale, so I had to pick another item. I ended up with these Family sign and I’m so happy with how it fits in our home. Truth be told, we were trying to cover up a spot on the wall that had our old security system (since we just got the Ring System—more on that in another post!). Eventually, we need to patch up the wall, but putting this sign over the space was a great temporary fix:)

Either way, the sign is a great reminder as we head in or out the door!

Michael’s will most certainly has some good sales for the Labor Day weekend, so it is worth checking out if you are looking for some new decor!!

Certainly a Santa

Well it happened and it only took a week into fifth grade for my son. He came to me the other day letting me know he doesn’t believe in Santa. Inside I was crying. But outside, I held my cool and listened to him explain. I could tell it really hit him hard and it was not something he wanted to know about. Of course there are much worse things to discover, but I do remember that feeling when I found out about Santa. So I knew what he was feeling.

A few years ago, I had received the book, There’s Certainly a Santa, and I filed it away for a time that I might need it. (I actually hid it high on a shelf in a closet, so none of the kids would find it). That time was this week. The book was PERFECT! It explains Santa is such a way that you can still believe in the spirit of Christmas and you learn how you can be a Santa for everyone else. My son and I were honestly both so relieved after reading the book and I do think it really helped him process the whole thing.

If you’ve got a child nearing this point, I HIGHLY recommend grabbing this book now and tucking it away for that day when you are TOTALLY caught off guard. (Like I did!)

Back to School Blues

It has been a rollercoaster of a week. Any other mom out there feel like the first weeks of school are a bunch of highs and lows?? Always takes some time to get in a place where you feel good that your kids are all in the right spot and things are going well! Now with three kids in school it feels like I am constantly putting out fires and managing everyone’s emotions. Parenting is not for the faint at heart!

To add to all of the back to school craziness, last week our sweet, 16 year old cat passed away. We got this adorable kitty when the year my husband and I got married. Where does time go??

Even when you know the end is near, it is NEVER easy to lose a pet. It is not the first time we’ve lost a pet, so this wasn’t a new experience, but still hard!

Anyway, everyone is doing well now. But, I just wanted to share a bit of life lately! We are ready for the weekend and a shorter school week next week. I  hope you have a great weekend! As always,  I am linking up with Erika, Narci and Andrea for this Friday Favorites post, so be sure to head over to their blogs as well!

Sorry for your loss; our 16+ year old kitty isn’t doing the greatest and we all say we’re prepared for him to pass on but I tend to think when it actually happens we’ll still be a little grief stricken.

Aww yes, you can never been really prepared. We have an 18 year old kitty that is still doing great…but you never know when things will happen. Hope you had a great holiday weekend!

So sorry to hear about your cat. Love all the fall decor. I’m not a PSL person either but I’m dying for my favorite salted caramel mocha. I don’t think I should get one though because of the carbs!

    • Jaclyn on September 3, 2019 at 11:17 am

Oh I will have to try a salted caramel mocha. Sounds amazing!

So sorry about your cat. That book sounds perfect for when that time arises. I just walked through Kirkland’s Wednesday and saw so many things I wanted but refused to buy without a coupon. LOL Happy weekend!

Thanks so much Lisa. I agree-never go to Kirklands without some sort of coupon. Although did you know there is an app and everytime you go, you can open the app and you spin to win a discount! At the very least you can get 10% off.

I’m so sorry to hear about your cat. I think it’s so tough to lose a pet who has been through so many important life phases with you. Take care and enjoy some relaxation this weekend.

    • Jaclyn on September 3, 2019 at 11:16 am

Thanks so much Tanya. Well said–it is tough when your pet has been through so many life stages with the family.

I know I have said this before but I wish we had a Kirkland’s nearby- this post just makes me want to buy all the fall things! Those ghost lights are so cute! Have a great week Jaclyn!

I’m still sad I didn’t buy the door mat the first time I saw it! I haven’t been able to find another one yet. So cute!!
