Today I’m linking up with Erika and Shay for Working it Wednesday. Each month is a different topic and this month we are talking about creating a cozy home. I am all about COZY! Comfy pants, soft blankets and warms socks–I’ll take all of them. My mom pointed out, while on our girls trip this past weekend, that I gravitate towards soft and cozy clothes. I can’t help it! So it’s only fitting I give you a cozy fall home tour.

Making our home cozy is a decorating priority of mine.  I appreciate decor and style but I want my family relax and feel comfy in the house. I love pillows, rugs and lots of seating options to create a warm and inviting space.

Without further ado, come on in and check out some of our favorite cozy spots in the house for the fall!

My front porch is ever changing and already looks differently than this picture. It is currently “under construction” while it waits for pumpkins to be added to it. I’ve got a new wreath to add to the door too.

Late Summer Front Porch Ideas

Our kitchen is right off the front door so this seating area is one of the first things you see. It’s fun to update the chalkboard for the seasons. Also under construction as it is a blank spot right now!!

Our kitchen is our main gathering spot, so lots of seating is a must. I recently put out the tiered tray on the island with my favorite holiday Rae Dunn mugs, a candle and some pumpkins.  It’s true that faux and live greenery add warmth to a room too.

Modern Farmhouse Fall Decor Ideas

I shared a picture of this display on Instagram the other day. I’m always updating the Lightbox and area of the kitchen for different events and holidays. The kids really love this set up and enjoy helping me come up with new ideas. We have a lot of words and signs around the house!

Another favorite spot in the kitchen is our gumball machine that is update with candy for each season. It is a fun element for our family and also for friends that come visit! The machine actually requires money so we end up with quite a bit of change that we donate every month.

Inexpensive Fall Farmhouse Decor

Our kitchen opens right up to our dining room so I try carry similar decor into this room. I decorated this area with a several pumpkins scattered on the bookcase and lots of pillows!

After I took the first picture I swapped out the pillow on the bench! I had to bring in more fall decor. This pew bench is my most loved piece of furniture to style. So easy to change out for the season! Pillows are a favorite way of mine to warm up a space. Lately I’ve been trying to buy pillow covers more than stuffed seasonal pillows. It is much easier to store a bunch of pillow covers than massive pillows.

At the other end of our dining room is a mantle that I enjoy switching up all the time. These buffalo check ottomans are brand new and I love them. I have a lot of garlands around the house including this apple one. Garlands add warmth and character to a space!

The final room I wanted to show you is our family room. We love to be cozy in this room! You can almost always find someone on this couch or a one of the chairs snuggled up with a blanket.

Tips to Creating a Cozy Home

I really don’t have too many fall accents in this room. I try to find the right balance with seasonal decor and all the toys and other stuff that take up our spaces. I’d rather go for less decorations and feel like the space isn’t too cluttered.

How to Create a Cozy Home Environment

That being said, I ended up putting all of our Halloween decor in one area on the other side of our family room. You can read about how I decorated this cart hereThis spot is a current hotspot. The candy dish keeps bringing everyone back–ha!

Love how you used the tiered stand. I don’t use mine except for parties. Time to remedy that!

I have started doing the same thing with the seasonal pillow covers. Last year I bought a lumbar pillow at Pottery Barn and I’ve been buying covers for it. Also, where did you buy your tiered tray on the island? I love it!
