Happy Monday! This past weekend was a busy one! However, my husband and I still managed to squeeze in a few hours for a date night at our house. Today, I am so excited to share all the details of our Date Night In Box experience. This monthly subscription box provides all the instructions and supplies you need for a fun and memorable date!
The Date Night in Box was provided in exchange for my review. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this post are 100% my own.
How The Date Night in Box Works
The Date Night in Box provides all the tools and instructions you need to have a unique date night at home experience! When you open up the box, you first need to read the instruction aka date card! (Anyone catch the Bachelor reference?!). Most months, the box comes with a link to a playlist of music for the date as well as a recommended menu. This box allows you have have a complete night in with very little preparation on your part!
Considering all the effort it can take to plan a date night out (coordinate schedules, find a sitter, get dressed up), the Date Night in Box is way more enticing!!
Our Date Night In Experience
So what was it like for our date night in experience?! First, let me say that it helps to go into this date with an open mind and willingness to be silly! As I mentioned, the box typically comes with instructions to access a playlist and a dinner menu. However, the March box theme was very unique in that very little instructions were provided. We had no clue what we were getting ourselves into!! The theme for this box was BLINDDATE!
Our first step was getting the kids off to bed so we could enjoy our date! The nice thing about this date is that it takes about 1-1 1/2 hours to complete–so it’s easy to fit into an evening even after you get the kids to bed! For our date night, we shuttled the kids off to an early bedtime–we were fortunate that we did on a Sunday as they were very TIRED!
This box came with the date card, two blindfolds, cotton candy, masking tape, a dry erase board and Morrocan oil lip balm! We were so intrigued.
Our date card instructed us to a website to listen to our instructions.
From there, our activities began! We started with a blindfolded game of “Draw It Blind”. We took turns drawing the pictures that were instructed. Then, we had to redraw the pictures using our partners guided instructions! I’m not sure which pictures came out better!
The beautiful portrait my husband drew of me! Do you see the resemblance?!
After this activity we had to create an obstacle course for each other and complete the course with our partners verbal commands. We are never truly alone–our dog had to join our date!
Next, we got to enjoy a fun cotton candy treat and then answer questions about our significant other. These questions lead to some good discussions that we would not typically have on a date!
I guess it’s a sign of a good time but we did not get to take a lot of pictures. You really have to be engaged in the activity so there is no time to be hanging on to your phone. These activities were truly unique and not anything we would thought of doing on our own.
Our Review of the Date Night in Box
We had so much fun on this date! The reality is neither of us would ever be that creative in planning a date night in at home. Our usual go to would be to grab a glass of wine/beer and scroll through Netflix to find a good show. So this date really pushed us to get us out of our comfort zone.
We had the opportunity to be silly and have a lot of laughs but also we got to get serious about some meaningful topics.

If you’ve been hanging around my blog for a while, you know I LOVE subscription boxes. I like giving them as gifts and getting them in the mail. The Date Night In box ranks at the top of my favorite monthly subscription boxes! If you think about the cost of a date night out, this box is significantly a more affordable date option. It provides a way to have a special night with your partner without leaving home. We had so much fun on this date. It really pushed us out of our comfort zone of plopping on the couch and watching T.V. I can’t wait to see what the theme will be for next month!
This is hysterical and what a great idea! I love the picture of the dog staring at you when you are blindfolded- so funny!
