Yay for Thursday already! I think it is one of my favorite days of the week as the weekend is so close and promising! Hope you all have had a good week so far. Today I wanted to do a fun post about a typical day in my mom life. I always find these day in the life posts enjoyable to read when other bloggers publish them. It’s fun to catch glimpses into others’ lives and see how different, yet how very similar we live our lives. So without further ado, I will share a day in my mom life for you!

6:40 I’m the first one awake! Normally I get up closer to 6:20 but I was T-I-R-E-D this morning. I get my Fit Bit on and go around the house to turn on a few lights and flip on the fire. It has been COLD here in the mornings. Fall in the midwest has officially set in!

Typical Day for Stay at Home Mom

I start my day with a cold cup of yesterday’s coffee. This is probably very strange to the majority of you! I get it. But I am desperate first thing in the morning and our coffee machine is not programmable. So I have to wait until my barista (aka my husband) gets up and makes us a fresh pot.

Most weekday mornings breakfast for the kids is oatmeal and cereal but a few times a week I try to mix it up. This morning I made whole wheat donuts using our donut maker. *Our donut maker is no longer available but a similar model can be found here. One of our favorite kitchen tools!

Schedule for Stay at Home Mom

7:00 Time to wake up the kids (and husband). The next hour is a whirlwind of eating breakfast, packing lunches, organizing backpacks and brushing hair.

Schedule for Busy Mom of Three

8:00 Now I can catch my breath for a second..ahh! Once the big kids are gone, I get to cleaning the kitchen and making myself breakfast. My little guy gets to watch his shows. Of course he wants to get a snuggle in…so breakfast will have to wait.

What a Stay at Home Mom Does All Day

Once I get to having breakfast I make my usual fare: eggs, sweet potatoes and avocado. I eat Whole30ish, so eggs are on repeat every day.

Schedule for a Busy Mom

After breakfast we head on a walk with my husband and dog! Some mornings we head to a workout class and other days we join my husband for a walk. It is so cold here still. Lucky for my little guy he gets to snuggle with a blanket in the stroller.

9:00 Back home and time for a bath! Some days my son is really into taking baths and other days not so much! Today he was all about playing in the bath for a while! So I hung in the hallway watching him as I caught up on my favorite blogs and folded laundry.

How to Structure Your Day as a Stay at Home Mom

Some of my favorite blogs include: Honey We’re Home, A Thoughtful Place, 71 Toes, Momfessionals and The Secret Ingredient [is love].

Do any of your kids feel as tortured as this guy when he gets out of the bath?! He sits curled up in a fetal position for a good five minutes until he is willing to get into some clothes.

Dressed and ready for the day…well at least he is! I’m still in yoga pants and a sweatshirt #momlife.

10:00  Nana arrives! My mom usually comes over once a week to hang out…so nice! She lives across town, so unfortunately we have to schedule our visits instead of having impromptu pop-ins.

Now I can get to a shower, which is a rarity this early in the day! Mom uniform in effect: leggings, check, cozy cardigan, check, ballet flats, check!

Staying Organized as a Busy Stay at Home Mom

I also squeeze in more laundry, wrap presents for my little guy’s big birthday and get little birthday ‘favors’  ready to bring to his preschool class. I bought his birthday gifts so long ago I forgot what I got him.

Hope I don’t regret my choice on these magic water beads. One of those things that looks fun but then ends up being the BIGGEST mess for the next year!

Activities for a Stay at Home Mom

Train whistles for favors–my son’s preschool teachers will LOVE me!

11:45 Lunch time! I warm up some soup and sit down to catch up with  my mom for a few minutes.

12:15-2:30 Time to leave for preschool. We head over to school and wait for class to start! As soon as he gets out of the car, I hit the ground running. I head to the grocery, then back home to unload my haul, switch the laundry, clean up the basement and squeeze in a little blog time. Like all moms, I can cram a lot in two hours!

We always play a game of eye spy in the carpool line!

2:30 How is it time for preschool pick up already? He always has a lot to tell me and is a bit tired after school!

Typical Day for a Stay at Home Mom with Elementary Kids

We head back home in time for the big kids to arrive. The next two hours are a BLUR! So fast and furious with the homework/snack/get ready for evening activities shuffle! Is it just me or do your kids go through every emotion when they get home? First we are happy to be home, then grumpy to do homework, angry with a sibling or two for annoying them, “hangry.”..you name it!

Today I get started on dinner when they are working on homework. Activities start early on Wednesdays, so dinner is VERY early. I normally stick to my meal themes that I talked about here, but Tuesday I wanted to make soup, so Tacos were on a Wednesday! #rebel

This guy decides to open a new box of Legos he got as an early birthday present. I have a total love-hate relationship with Legos. Anyone else cringe when you hear the Lego box being dumped?!Day in the Stay at Home Mom Life

5:00-8:00 Evening activities!  It’s time to take my daughter to play practice so I round up the troops and off we go! After we drop her off, we head home and my middle son gets ready for his sports. It’s a ‘double header’ on Wednesdays with flag football and Taekwondo. My husband and I divide and conquer as he juggles those activities and I manage my daughter’s pick up.Typical Day for a SAHM

8:15 We get home from our activities and now it’s quick showers, snacks (because we are all starving again!) and bedtime. My middle son requests I read his story while he plays with Legos. Little brother’s Lego playing rubbed off on him!

Mom Life for SAHM

9:00 And my work is done here! I flop on the couch and don’t get up for the next hour or so before bed. If I didn’t get something done around the house before now it’s not going to happen. I finish up with my blog post from the comfort of the couch and catch up with my husband. I watch Real Housewives of Orange County (any other moms watch Bravo shows as a guilty pleasure?!) and then it’s off to bed for me.

Today was a pretty typical day for me! Having my mom over definitely allowed me to be a little more productive during the day. Normally, my little guy wants my undivided attention when we are home. So I am constantly juggling quick chores with games of Candy Land and role playing with his Rescue Bots.

Would love to hear from you and how your day differs or is similar! I’ll be back tomorrow for FRIDAY FAVORITES!
