HOW TO ASSEMBLE THE DIY SNOW GLOBE ORNAMENTS
It is really important that you find clear snow globe ornaments. We started this project using regular mason jars and it was so hard to see inside the jars.
However, we went back to the drawing board. I ended up finding these clear mason jar ornaments. These jars are absolutely perfect for this project!
If you would rather make mini snow globe decorations instead of ornaments, you could use baby food jars, jelly containers and pickle jars!
Are you ready to get started making your own mini snow globe ornaments?
Step 1:
The first step is to trace a cardboard circle the same size as the inside of the lid. After you trace the circle, you will cut the circle out of the cardboard. Then, you need to glue the circle to the inside of the lid. We found that the cardboard elevated the scene a little bit which made it easier to see the scene once the container was placed back on the lid.
Step 2:
Next, you will glue all of your mini figures to the cardboard. You need to be able to secure the lid, so keep the pieces away from the edges. You can test along the way to see if you are able to close the container.
My daughter came up with this little scene on her own. Way more creative than anything I can come up with!
Step 3:
Now, you can add as much of the fake snow as you want to the jar. If you want some of the snow to stick to the jar to give it a true snow globe feel, spray a little bit of water inside the container!
Step 4:
Last but not least, you can decorate the lid of the jar with Washi Tape. You can embellish the mini snow globe ornament however, you want! We like to add red and white twine and mini jingle bells to the handle!
Aren’t these mini snow globes so cute? I loved seeing each of the kids come up with their own winter wonderland scene.
