Fall Decorating in 3 Easy Steps
Happy Wednesday everyone! The weather here these last few weeks has us feeling the fall vibes. Wasn’t it just a few short weeks ago we were enjoying summer?! It’s amazing how fast the seasonal flip switches. Today, I am linking up with Erika and Shay for How We Do Wednesdays and this month’s theme is all things FALL! I am sharing how I get ready for the season by fall decorating. I’ll share my three easy steps to fall decorating that anyone can accomplish;) I shared these ideas on Instagram the other day and many friends could relate to this process:)
Step 1: Send kids to school
It is best to have the house to yourself to attempt any fall decorating. This process requires FULL CONCENTRATION:)
Step 2: Set the fall mood
Get yourself in full fall mode! First, light a candle and then grab a cup of coffee with your favorite FALL THEMED coffee mug.
Bonus activity: Simmer a pot of soup on the stove with your favorite soup recipe!
I made a Sweet Potato and Black Bean soup on Monday and it was so good!
Step 3: Insert PUMPKINS everywhere!
Now for the most important step, you must insert pumpkins all over the house:)
This year, I mostly stuck to neutrals with some pops of orange and copper. I used things I had with the exception of a few purchases from Marshalls (which I shared on my Instagram Stories). My best tip to seasonal decorating is to buy things that can be used in multiple places around your house. You can move decor pieces around from year to year and it brings new life to the items!
I plan to do a full fall home tour very soon…the gloomy weather this week did not make picture-taking easy. But I have a few spots to show you today.
Dining Room Fall Decor
Our living room mantle is staying neutral for now. As we get closer to Thanksgiving, I am sure I will change things around.
I love this reversible banner I found at Target (for $3). It says WELCOME on the other side.
Distressed Wood Candle Holders
Everything else on the mantle, I found from other places around the home.
Fall Farmhouse Kitchen
Our kitchen chalkboard got a little makeover. I ordered this pillow I talked about in my recent Amazon favorites post. I found some pumpkins at Marshalls to match.
I’ve got more fun fall changes in the kitchen that I will share in a few weeks!!
Family Room Fall Decor
Now we are moving on to our family room! A few weeks ago I shared this updated tiered tray decor. I am loving the little pumpkins I picked up from Target.
Fall Themed Bar Cart
I had a lot of fun decorating our bar cart this year! This spot got a bit more color than the rest of the house. This cart is a little hayride/apple picking theme.
The apple garland is from Target but how cute is this red buffalo check garland?!

That wraps up my take on FALL! It is not lost on me this week that while I think about fall decor, some parts of the country are bracing for a hurricane. I am most certainly thinking about friends and family in the South♥
I am definitely thinking of those in the path of Florence! I love your fall decor, especially all the muted farmhouse colors. Great bar cart too!
I love the season of Fall and all the decor is just so fun – there is so much you can do with it. LOVE how you decorated your bar cart!

I love decorating for fall. And I am a firm believer in inserting pumpkins everywhere! Such cute touches!
Love your fall decor- we lit our fall candles this week for the first time here! Thanks for the reminder- I have to change the words on our sign too! 🙂
Love the three steps. I still have to do my fall decor here! Your bar cart looks great!
