What’s Up Wednesday: February Favorites
Hi there! Happy Wednesday! I am participating in a fun link up up with Shay, Sheaffer, and Mel for What’s up Wednesdays. It’s nice to look back on the month and review some of our February Favorites!
What we’re eating this week….
Last Friday, I shared my plan for this week’s menu and we have been loosely sticking to it!
We loved the Pizza Stuffed Potato Skins I made on Sunday! They took a little more prep time then I had planned as you have to roast the potatoes but it is worth the extra effort!
We’ve kept it easy since my husband was out of town the first part of the week–so pasta and meatballs one day and grilled cheese on the other day! I shared on Instagram that we even read our books through dinner one night! It sure made for a peaceful meal!
I felt extra motivated yesterday to do some snack prepping after coming across this Freezer Smoothie Recipe! So, I made a batch of these packets and now we have a week’s worth of smoothies!
For the remainder of the week we are planning:
Salmon and Veggies
Pizza Night
Out for Dinner!
What I’m reminiscing about…
Valentine’s Day already seems ages ago but we sure had a festive holiday. The kids loved our Valentine’s breakfast!
My daughter celebrated her 11th birthday!
We took a mother daughter trip to California!
We also kept busy with swim meets, basketball games, a talent show and the usual hustle and bustle of family life.
What I’m wearing…
The other day I shared my most recent items from my Trendsend box and I’ve been wearing all the items I kept.
Pink Peplum Tunic (On sale $49.99)
Ribbed Midi Dress ($29.99 Orig. $68.00)
I also got a great deal on this tank from Evereve (currently $24.99 Orig. $68.00). It will transition well into spring and even summer!
What I’m dreading…
Kindergarten registration for my little guy! I’ve been in serious denial that my youngest is going to head to Kindergarten next Fall! I have to get him registered next week. Ugh! Send tissues!
What I’m looking forward to…
Spring Break! We are taking the kids to D.C. and it will be a totally new experience for all of us! The last time I went to D.C. I was in 8th grade! I am interested in all recommendations for family friendly activities and restaurants! I keep hearing how many great food places there are in D.C., so I am hoping to hit a few of the good ones!
What I am working on….
This weekend I’m going to get out our Easter and spring decor and update some spots in the house. This little chalkboard area has already gotten a little spring update.
Also, I’m getting started on organizing our bathroom as part of March’s Clear the Clutter Challenge. In case you missed the news on the Clear the Clutter Facebook group, we have two new hosts: Holly from Coordinator of Chaos and Morgan from Morganize with Me. I’m so excited for these ladies to join the group!
What I’m watching or reading…
Besides, the Olympics not much! Well, if I’m being honest, I am also watching the Bachelor! I really feel like this season is a snoozefest, but I can’t give up on it now. Can you believe #bachelornation has been a thing for 16 years!? (And I’ve watched just about every season).
This month I finished two books. The Wonder was a pretty intense/dark book about a young girl in Ireland in the 1800s. It was definitely an interesting read although admittedly, it took me a few chapters to really get into it.
Then, last weekend, I could not put down the book, Girl, Wash Your Face! It was a quick and mostly light read by Rachel Hollis. She talks about taking control of your life and being in charge of your own happiness. Her book really gave me some motivation to get things done! She basically tells you to get off the couch and go after your goals. Although I didn’t know much about her blog beforehand, I am now a huge fan!

That about wraps up some of my favorites from February! Despite the fact that it was a cold and dreary month, we still managed to have a lot of fun!
Email me directly if you have any questions about Washington, DC. I have lived in the area for decades. You will have the Best time!

Patty-I will take you up on that offer and email a few questions. Thanks so much!
D.C will be a blast- can’t wait to read all about your trip!
Thanks I can’t wait! Wish it was spring break already!
We went to DC two summers ago and we all really liked it. I have a bunch of blog posts about it too! I know your kids will enjoy it! My husband will be traveling this upcoming week – I hate planning meals when he’s not here!
I will for sure check out your DC posts–thanks for letting me know!!
Salmon and veggies is always a go to for our dinner menu! Love your chalk board and can’t wait to see how you decorate it!
Think about a quick 1 hr 45 min detour to our house Jaclyn! We’d love to have you visit & have lots of room. If you need ideas for DC, our son Patrick was there for years and knows all the best places…
Dreading kdg next year too for Abby. Full day too. Where does the time go?!
Those potato skins look so yummy, and your kitchen is beautiful! And I hope you had so much fun on your mother daughter trip, San Francisco is such a great city!
I haven’t been to DC since then either!! Gahhh! I need to go back!
