Happy May and Happy Friday! May is filled with so many fun events including Mother’s Day and Memorial Day weekend, plus it is one month close to summer! It is one of the best months of the year. Hopefully, despite our current times being so different, we will be able to celebrate these fun times in some way or another! Anyway, as usual, I am sharing some Friday Favorites in home, style and family.
One // 11th Birthday Celebration
The highlight of the week was celebrating my son’s 11th birthday! Despite our current stay at home orders, it was honestly one of the best birthday celebrations! My daughter and I created a Lego themed birthday party complete with a Lego cake and a few Lego party favors.
My daughter also compiled a birthday video with messages from family and friends. It was so sweet-something we will never forget!
Besides Lego sets, he also got a new skateboard, the latest book in this series and a big pack of Big League Chew gum. The birthday boy had a great day.
Two // Spring Porch Update
It’s the little things these days right? One little thing this week was getting a new fern for our front porch. It really starts to feel like summer when we spruce up our outdoor spaces and get new flowers and plants. This week, I was so excited to find ferns at our local grocery store.
I can not wait to get the rest of our outdoor plants and flowers!
Three // Cute Graphic Tees
I love a cute graphic tee and I spotted some adorable summer tees on Jane! These tees would look cute with a pair of jean shorts and even layered with kimono.
Here Comes the Sun is my favorite tee in this collection but all of them are so cute! You can pick the color of the shirt with any of the designs.
These tees in this collection all have a great message!
These tops are sweatshirts and look so cozy! Nice for chilly summer evenings.
I’ve got several tops and a sweatshirt in my shopping cart right now and I have to decided on which ones to get before the items are gone!
Four// Whipped Coffee Drink Recipe
We have a new favorite afternoon drink treat. Have you tried whipped coffee (also called Dalgona Coffee)? It is super popular these days and we decided to give it a try. You will need instant coffee for this recipe which is the only ingredient we did not have on hand initially. We tried to make our own instant coffee following a recipe we found online and it did not work. So, make sure to have instant coffee!
Whipped Coffee Ingredients (2 servings):
2 Tablespoons Boiling Water
2 Tablespoons Sugar (you can use more or less depending on the level of sweetness you like)
2 Tablespoons Instant Coffee
Ice (we make an iced version)
Milk of your choice (I used almond milk)
Combine all of the ingredients and whisk vigorously until the mixture turns into a caramel, creamy consistency. Fill a glass with ice and milk and then pour half of the mixture on top. You can leave as is or stir around to combine.
It is a sweet and caffeinated drink that is perfect for an afternoon pick me up! Bonus: You will have a big jar of instant coffee, so try this delicious Mocha Brownie Recipe! We made them yesterday.
Five // May Self Care Challenge
For the last few Mays, I have done some sort of challenge including a Self Care Challenge and, a few years ago, Whole 30. This year, I am excited to again start a 30 Day Self Care Challenge. First, I will set some daily challenges that are specific goals with exercise, eating habits and personal growth.
Then, I also created a fun 30 Day Self Care Calendar that includes a daily self care activity to do.
I am kicking off the Self Care Challenge today and I hope you will join me! Join HERE and you will get the handouts. Then follow along on Instagram for motivation and daily reminders! It is nice to have a positive focus these days and take care of your mind and body!
Anyway, that is all for this week! I hope you have a great first weekend of May! I am linking up with Erika, Narci and Andrea for this Friday Favorites post, so be sure to head over to their blogs as well!
