Hi friends! Happy Memorial Day weekend! Normally we travel out of town for Memorial Day weekend or we have friends visit us. So this holiday weekend will be a little different and a lot quieter. But, we are hoping to make the best of it and spend time outdoors, BBQ and maybe eat some S’Mores! Anyway, as usual, I am sharing some Friday Favorites in home, style and family!

One // Patio Updates
We are excited to get our patio together for summer. Yesterday, I scored a great deal on a side table at Aldi. I love it so much because it so functional. The top can be used as a tray and you can store small items inside of the cube.
I plan to put some smaller yard games, sunscreen and bug spray inside of it. It is nice and light so you can move it around to where you need it. The best part was that it was only $29.99!
The other side of the couch has different side table and also a new striped ottoman. I am obsessed with this rainbow ottoman because it ties in all the colors from the porch. Plus, it is actually very comfy to sit on. So, if you need to provide a little extra seating, this is a perfect option.
I wasn’t feeling in the mood to decorate for Memorial Day. Usually, I get a few spaces around the house decked out in Red, White & Blue. Yesterday, I got a little motivation to add a few things to our front door area. At least, I can say I got in the patriotic spirit.
Two // Teen Girl Closet Refresh
Last week, I was so inspired by this teen closet update on Instagram from This Loud House.
So, sometimes, you get inspired by a picture and think that there is not a way to recreate it in your own home. Which, in this case, we don’t have the same closet space. But, it is fun to get inspired by something and get creative to come up with your own ideas.
My daughter and I decided to give her small walk in closet an update. Her space is a little tricky because she has angled ceilings and it is not a tall space. But, we worked with what we had to come up with a solution.
Since she does have a good amount of storage space in her closet, we used the back half to store toys and keepsakes she wants to hang on to. Then, we divided the closet with this Marble Look Wall Tapestry.
She can still get into the back of the closet, but it helps to block off all of her stuff.
We already had this clothing rack, which works perfectly in this space.
The Small Drawer Organizer was already in her closet so we just moved it to the front of the room (it had contained toys).
Also, I painted the large wall with this leftover Black Chalkboard paint. It gives the space a more finished look and she can have fun writing on the wall.
Our only purchases were the marble look wall tapestry and a small faux plant. She would like some hooks to hang her bags and hats. So, for a total of $20, she now has a fun, dressing room. The closet feels a lot more glammed up then how it looked before.
Nothing too fancy but we can say another quarantine project is complete!
Three // Summer Fun Ideas
I was so excited to put away our winter coats and then get our mud closet ready for summer! Every summer I try to get this closet a little more functional for the constant coming in and out of the house.
I have a stack of pool towels ready. So, when the kids come in from the sprinkler and playing water balloons, they can grab one quick instead of walking around the house.
This year, I added a little caddie from the Dollar Store that contains the things we are always grabbing to take out of the house including suntan lotion, sunglasses, bubbles etc. It is nice for the kids to be able to reach for these items and take them on their way out of the house.
We have just a week left of school. While, we are so excited to finish the distance learning, there is a part of me wondering what we will do all summer! No camps, no baseball and no summer swim team. It will be a very laid back summer for sure.
The reality is that there are still so many fun things about summer that are not cancelled including:
- Bike Rides
- Unlimited Popsicles and Ice Cream
- Backyard Camp Outs
- S’Mores by the Fire Pit
- Sprinklers and Slip-N-Slides
- Being Bored (I talked about a little summer boredom HERE)
The more I think about it, this summer sounds a lot like the ones I grew up having! So, there is a lot of that laid back, simple idea that I am very excited about!!
All this being said and the reality is that my family does do better with structure. So, I found this Summer Schedule Handout from Miss Sue Living for a little bit of organization to most of our days. Some days we will have a plan and some days we will not look at this schedule.
My kids, the boys especially, would be on screen time for hours on end if we didn’t have a plan in place. So, maybe this will be the summer our time is a little more balanced!
Four // Father’s Day Gift Idea
It is just one month away until Father’s Day! It looks like dads are going to luck out with a less quarantine feel Father’s Day than we moms had it for Mother’s Day:) The kids and I put together a gift for my husband this week and it turned out so cute.
If you have a dad or grandpa that loves to fish or just loves candy, this might be the perfect gift for them! Read about how to put together a Candy Fishing Tackle Box!
Anyway, that wraps up this week’s Friday Favorites! I hope you have a great Memorial Day weekend! See you back here next week.
I am linking up with Erika, Narci and Andrea for this Friday Favorites post, so be sure to head over to their blogs as well!

I’m thinking I might need to make a trip to Aldi’s; that side table is perfect. We need something to store sunscreen in outside too and I have all gray furniture already! I’ve got my eye on a few things I want to buy for our outside areas.. I need to remember to put some towels by our back door as we went kayaking today and had wet/sandy feet and were trapped outside until they dried! What a lovely mud room area you have.
Love your front porch! So cute!
Thank you! Have a great weekend!
