Cheers to Friday! We are just about a week away from Memorial weekend, which is the start of summer in my book. The weather has made a big turn for the better this week and I officially think my kids can wear shorts the rest of the school year. At our house, it is a big discussion on what kind of weather day it is as we can go from winter coats to short sleeves all within a week. Anyway, as usual, I am sharing some favorites in home, style and family.

Flower Window Boxes

Well, this year, we bought our flowers a week later than normal. Usually, I have our pots filled by Mother’s Day weekend. But, this past week, we finished our flowers. I wanted window boxes for so many years before we finally made the purchase of these.

Window Boxes 2021

This will be our third season of using these window boxes and they have held up so well.

Admittedly, the toughest part about window boxes is the cost of flowers to fill them up! It does take a lot of flowers. Some of the flowers we bought didn’t look so healthy when we put them in the boxes. But,  since these pictures were taken, they have started to fill in nicely!

Roasted Chickpea Recipe

This week on Instagram, I shared a really easy and healthy snack idea. You can eat these roasted chick peas on their own or a crunchy salad topping. I was so surprised that all of my kids tried them and the majority of them liked the snack!

My kids liked these as a snack and I put them on my salad. I made a delicious salad with mixed greens, tuna, blueberries and these roasted chickpeas. So good!

Here is the Roasted Chickpeas recipe if you want to try!

Roasted Chickpeas

Delicious and crunchy roasted chickpeas make for a healthy snack or a salad topper

  • 1 can Garbanzo Beans or Chickpeas (These go quick, so it is good to double the recipe!)
  • 1 Drizzle Olive Oil
  • Salt, Pepper and Favorite Spices (You can try sweet with cinnamon or make them spicy with chili powder and cumin. Or you could use Everything But the Bagel Seasoning.)
  1. Open Can of Chickpeas and drain in a colander. Rinse the beans until the water is no longer bubbling.

  2. Pat the beans dry with a paper towel. This is important so that the chickpeas are not soggy.

  3. In a bowl, combine chickpeas with a generous drizzle of olive oil. Sprinkle with salt and pepper or your favorite spices! You can make these chickpeas sweet, spicy or just plain roasted!

  4. Bake in the oven at 425 for 20-30 minutes. Check on the chickpeas at 20 minutes and give them a stir. You want to make sure these get really crispy!

  5. Allow to cool and then store in an air tight container on your counter.

Summer Activities for Kids

I wanted to share two good deals I purchased on Amazon this week. The first deal is on these Summer Workbooks for Kids. I have always bought these books for my kids and we have made it a routine to do a few pages each day in the morning. Now, my older two have some assignments from their schools, so I just bought a workbook for my second grader. It is a nice incentive for them to do a little bit of school work before they get into TV or video games.

Currently, these workbooks on half off on Amazon!

Also, I grabbed this Tie-Dye kit. Last summer, these kits were so hard to find and if you did find them, the prices were inflated. It is good to get your tie-dye kit now when they are on sale and then save for a day when you need a fun activity! It would be a great activity for the last day of school.

Summer Old Navy Finds

Yesterday, my son had a band concert and I had realized earlier this week that he did not have any dressier pants to wear. I think it has been a year since he has had to really get dressed up. I ended up ordering a pair of pants from Old Navy and I threw extra things in my cart that caught my eye. It can be hit or miss for me when it comes to Old Navy. But, this trip, was a hit! There is a big Old Navy sale, as usual, so I was able to get some items for good prices!

My favorite find was this pair of high waisted linen pants. These pants just might be might second favorite pair of summer pants besides my favorite Athleta pants. Which is saying a lot because I have loved the Athleta pants for years. But, it is nice to find another summer pant option that is really inexpensive.

These are so versatile. I paired the pants with this ultra soft top. I would not have thought to look in the lounge/pj section for this top. But, a fellow blogger shared these tops on Instagram and I was interested in them because the price was so good.  I also got the top in this pastel watercolor pattern. There are a lot of different colors and patterns to choose from. I could have stocked up on more colors as I know I will wear them a lot.

I also paired the pants with this floral off the shoulder top. It will be really cute for a girls night or date night out.

Lastly, I got this acid washed sweater.  Admittedly, I thought that it would be a lighter weight sweater than it is. It is definitely too hot for summer days.

But I do still like the sweater a lot and I can see wearing it on cooler summer or fall days. The length is shorter than I would normally buy, but it still provides good coverage.

The Old Navy sale is really good and right now you can save an extra 35% off your order.

Friday Wrap Up

That is all for this week’s Friday Favorites. We do not have too much on our plate for this weekend. Well, except for more yard work including putting down all the mulch. It never ends! I hope you have a great weekend!

On the site, the pj top you got looks cropped but on you it doesn’t! I am needing some nicer clothes for going back to synagogue and wondered if Old Navy would have anything good.

It is a shorter top but I have a very long torso and it covers everything. I have to be really particular on the length of tops but if you wear high waisted bottoms this top will work.

You got some cute items from Old Navy. I really need to go into one and see what they have. I can’t judge sizes too well on the website. LOL
