Happy Friday friends! It has been a whirlwind of a week as the kids started school on Tuesday. It is hard to believe we were enjoying summer break on Monday and now we have been back to school for four days. It feels like the kids have been in school for awhile already! I know everyone will come home tired today. Fortunately, we do not have plans tonight so the kids can relax! Anyway, as usual, I am sharing some Friday Favorites in home, style and family.

Back-to-School Transition

Earlier this week, on Instagram, I shared our simple after school routine. The school schedule is a big adjustment. The kids go from carefree days at the pool in the summer,  to all of a sudden being thrown into morning routines, school, homework and after school activities. I am hoping that we can have a smooth adjustment by starting off the year with a few simple routines.

After School Routine Graphic

I made this After School Routine visual to help my youngest son stay on track.

Speaking of back-to-school transitions, one other thing we like to do on the first day of school is have special cookies. My friend from Scratch Bakery made these adorable cookies and these were almost too cute to eat.

The first week of school is filled with so many emotions (both the kids and parents!). So, it is nice to have little traditions that the kids can count on each year.

Marshalls Find

I ran a few errands on the first day the kids were all at school. It was  nice to do a little shopping. I was surprised that I did not find a lot of fall decor. But I did come home with these two of these rustic looking vases.

I thought I was going to group the vases together but I decided they looked better separately. It was a great find as each vase was less than $10. They look a lot more solid and high end in person.

It will be a few weeks before I even start thinking about decorating for the fall. But, I think these vases are a good transition to fall colors.

Ohio History Connection

On Monday, I shared our second Ohio History Connection visit. My son and I made a visit to Ft. Meigs in Perrsyburg.

It was a beautiful location and there was a lot to learn about the significance of this location and the War of 1812.  There is a lot to see and learn and it is a really fun place to take kids and teens!

We have had so much fun exploring places we did not know about. You can read more about our Ft. Meigs adventure here.

There are over 55 Ohio Historical Destinations to visit! Even though summer is over, we are hoping to check out other destinations in the Ohio Passport.

Fall Declutter Challenge

Keri and I have a two week declutter challenge coming soon! We will announce more details soon, but I wanted to share with you so you can join in with us!

Now that the kids are back to school, I have the urge to declutter the whole house. I am waiting to get started when the Mini Fall Declutter Challenge starts.

Friday Wrap Up

We do not have much planned this weekend so I am hoping the kids can relax and sleep in. Now that school is in session, we really have to appreciate our weekends.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

The afterschool plan is so organized. I usually empty my kids’ lunchboxes – they just have to give them to me and even that is hard!

Hello. I just found your blog today and enjoyed reading it. I was interested to see your Ohio History Connection passport as I was just on their website an hour ago! My family is from Ohio and I have found their genealogy department to be very helpful. Look forward to reading about more of your Ohio adventures.
