Happy Friday! I feel like Memorial Day is the unofficial start of summer. My kids have just 9 nine days left of school, so before we know it summer break will be here! As usual, I am sharing some Friday Favorites and this week’s focus is on Memorial Day food and fun!
Memorial Day Food
Do you have any fun plans for the holiday weekend? We have out of town friends coming, so I need to get our house organized! Yesterday, I shared an easy, make ahead appetizer you can take to your Memorial Day celebrations. Get the details on this Red, White and Blue themed Charcuterie board! It is a perfect appetizer because you can make it ahead of time and bring it out when you are ready to serve.
It also makes a nice and light dinner as we enjoyed this one for dinner earlier this week!
If you need a festive dessert for the weekend, take a look at these Red, White and Blue Ice Cream Sandwiches by 100 Affections. My daughter saw this dessert and requested that we make them this weekend. I love sticking to easy recipes but playing up the holiday or theme. In this case, it is all foods with Red, White and Blue!
If you really want to surprise your kids with a fun Red, White and Blue treat, check out this Patriotic Punch Recipe from Mom Endeavors. We have some Twizzlers left from our charcuterie board, so I just might have to make this recipe!!
Red, White and Blue Decor
I’m a little behind schedule with getting out our patriotic decor. Last year, I had our mantle all ready for Memorial Day.
But, if you caught my Instagram post the other day, you saw I got to make a large flag sign at Board & Brush. The sign making class was so fun and I was impressed that everyone’s signs turned out so well. The instructors really equip you with everything you need to make a quality sign! I’ve done paint your own picture/sign classes before and usually I come home with a product that I do not want to display:)
Special thanks to Board & Brush Westlake for inviting me to a class!
I did set up our outdoor dining cart the other day. It makes it so much more convenient to have all of your outdoor serving utensils and dishes in one spot so you can grab and dine outside! You can read more about how I set up our cart, in this post HERE!
This Week on the Blog
Earlier this week, I shared another DIY home decor project! I’ve been thinking about making a wood ruler sign to measure the kids’ growth. Even though my kids are getting older, they are not done growing yet. I wanted a family keepsake that we could take with us if we ever move. Currently, we measure the kids on a door frame, which is certainly special but not something we can bring with us:)
I promise that it is not a hard project and if I can do it, you can too! Check out the post HERE!
