Friday Favorites: Happy 4th, Best Athleta Shorts and New Kids Bedding
Happy Friday friends! Are you excited for the holiday weekend? I can not believe how fast summer is going and that we are already into July. The weather has been so rainy here, I am just hoping for a nice and sunny weekend. Anyway, as usual, I am sharing favorites in home, style and family.

Best Athleta Shorts on Sale
I am so happy with these new shorts that I got for my birthday. I love the Athleta Brooklyn pants and these are the shorts version of the same style! These shorts are already my favorite pair in my closet. I love that these are high waisted and a good length. There are several colors of these shorts and I will certainly consider getting another pair this summer. This weekend, Athleta shorts on 20% off!
These shorts are great for outdoor activities and I have worn mine to the pool and on walks. You could even dress these shorts up with a cute tank top and jean jacket for a going out look.
Once you get hooked on the Athleta Brooklyn Pants, you will want one in every color and style. I reach for these pants more than jeans or any other bottom. I have an Athleta birthday reward, so I think I am going to get this printed Brooklyn short pair. I am going to order them this weekend when they are on sale too!
New Bedding for the Boys
I decided it was finally time to update my boys’ bedding. They have had Beddy’s comforters for several years. If I am being honest, I know everyone loves Beddy’s bedding, but the bedding did not function well for us. I love the concept of the all in one comforter and sheets. But, if you have really thick mattresses, it can be hard to put the bedding on the beds after washing and drying. My husband and I both dreaded putting the bedding back on because it was a really hard fit and most times it required two people.
Anyway, I thought that a regular comforter and sheet set would work out a lot better for our boys’ bunk beds. We are SO happy with the new sets. Here’s part of my secret: we are not using the top sheet! I know some people love their top sheets. But my boys are used to not having a sheet with the Beddy’s. Plus, they rarely make their beds so I know that a sheet will never stay in place.
The bedding was so inexpensive and the boys love the quilt. It is not too thick but is a solid weight. They were reluctant to give up their other bedding, but they have given rave reviews of these quilts since the switch!
There are a lot of deals on bedding right now because college students are buying dorm stuff. So the sheets were very inexpensive and the quilt was also reasonably priced. We’ve had these jersey knit sheets and they have held up so well, especially for the price.
Happy 4th of July
We are getting ready to host a small 4th of July party. I grabbed a few party favors including this Red, White and Blue Star Pinata and this pack of 4th of July accessories.
Also, I wanted a new tablecloth that I could use for summer entertaining. I did not want anything 4th of July specific, so I picked out this white and blue striped tablecloth with tassels. It is really pretty and so versatile.
I am still working on our 4th of July menu, but I am pretty sure we will make a Red, White & Blue Charcuterie Board.
My porch looks a little different this year, but I still love our Patriotic Porch Decor from a few years ago!
Friday Wrap Up
I hope you have a wonderful 4th of July! What is one food you are looking forward to eating this holiday weekend?
I just saw that Target is selling dorm sheet sets with no top sheets since most kids these days don’t use them!
Those shorts look fabulous on you Jaclyn and I am in love with your patriotic charcuterie board!
