Happy Friday and happy last weekend of summer (or at least it is in my book!). It will be a hot weekend here, so I am hoping to soak up our last days at the pool and lake. Anyway, as usual I am sharing my weekly favorites as part of a link up with Erika, Narci and Andrea. Today, I am going to share some of my favorites of the week including my home decor finds!

Home Decor Finds at Marshalls and Homegoods
This week I had a few hours to spare to hit my usual favorite home stores! I am hoping to make this a more regular thing and share some of my latest finds with you. I know some people find it totally overwhelming to walk into a Homegoods or Marshalls store–so much stuff! Therefore, I am sharing a few things that caught my eye and how I would use the items in my home. Sometimes you find things that look fun but then you aren’t sure how to use them!
I loved this wooden rolling bin! I really wanted to bring it home with me. It would be so cute for a kid’s play kitchen area–you could store all of the toy food in this! I love buying pieces that can work for multiple areas of the home because when you are tired of it in one spot, you can just move it to another. This is a versatile bin that could be used in a living room, play room or mudroom!
This small metal storage locker is so fun! It would be great for a boy’s bedroom or a media room! I love mixing metal furniture with wood in a room, so this piece would fit in anywhere!
Also, this bookshelf was so pretty and a great deal! I could sit this fitting in to a living room or even a girl’s room or home office.
This set of mini drawers is so functional! If it had been white I might have scooped this up for my daughter’s room. What a great way to store little things–jewelry, art supplies, anything small!!
I just love this beautiful wood bead candle holder! This is another decor item that could be used in many different places–dining room, family room and bedroom! So pretty!!
I found the perfect cozy blanket for fall! This neutral blanket would add warmth to any space! I love that has two colors but is neutral so it would go with anything.
It was hard to resist this adorable square Letterboard! I already have one although this one would be perfect for my daughter. This letterboard would be great for a home office or a tween or teen girl’s room!
All of these fun things at the stores and what did I end up with?
I can’t resist awesome wrapping paper and Marshalls/Homegoods has the BEST paper! I actually just ran out of this same gumball wrapping paper, so I bought it again! It is fun paper for a kid’s birthday present:)
Target Dollar Spot Favorites
I try to stay away from the Dollar Spot at Target because while it is inexpensive, you can end up finding a lot of stuff! This week, the Dollar bins were stocked to the brim. Our store had a ton of Halloween and Fall decor!
This bin of football party items caught my eye. We usually host friends to watch football games on Sundays from time to time. There were a lot of fun things for a festive backyard tailgate!
This Game Day Trivia game would be fun for the kids during a football game! Nice way to keep them engaged and of course if prizes are involved everyone wants to play!
Also, I spotted this already made Gratitude Tree for Thanksgiving. Last year, we made a Thankful Chalkboard display during the month of November but this option would be so easy! It would be special to save the canvas and look back on it for years to come!
Target has these adorable white houses back in stock!! I bought some of these at Christmas last year and they were so pretty! You could use them for so many different holidays.
How pretty would it be to make a small village of these white houses on a mantle or table?!
Also, this green garland is back in stock for the holidays too! I wrapped this around my tiered tray last year! Plus, I bought another strand of this garland and made mini napkin rings out of small pieces. This is another one of those items that you can use for a lot of different things!
So what did I purchase from Target??
Since I am not willing to bring down all of my fall decor from the attic (just yet), I was happy to add these little Dollar Spot pumpkins to my favorite tiered tray🙂
I shared my purchases on Instagram stories! My other purchases include plaid paper straws (festive for Christmas) and a football banner!
DIY Command Center
This week, I had organization on my mind. I finished up our Chalkboard Command Center Wall. It is so functional –and cute too! We are short on wall space–especially in the kitchen. So I had to get creative on where to put this system. I decided on a wall leading into our basement. It’s perfect because it is right near our front door, so the kids see it when they come home from school. Also, the wall makes me smile when I walk down to our basement laundry room.
It is still a work in progress and I can not say that the kids are perfect with remembering to check off their chores. But, like with any new system, it takes time and a lot of reminders! I can not expect new patterns to be changed in a day! This week we will continue to work on reminding everyone to go to their chore chart and I hope that after a few weeks, they start going there on their own!
Family Dinner at Chick-fil-a
This is the first full week that my husband has not been traveling in over a month! I’ve shared how I manage with a husband that travels –it is certainly easier now that the kids are older. But, we LOVE to have him home. This week, we were able to have dinner together as a family every night which isn’t always possible even when he is home! We were invited to our local Chick-fil-a for a Back to School event!
We had so much fun!! Chick-fil-a has GREAT theme nights! Over the years we have been to Mom/Son night, a Christmas dinner and a Daughter/Dad breakfast at Chick-fil-a. I highly recommend these events for a little family fun.
The events are always free to attend (of course you pay for your meal). But they always include some fun freebies. This event had a yummy ice cream toppings bar for the kids!
This Back-to-School event included a balloon artist, face painter, DJ, raffle prizes and free dessert for the kids!!
The best we could do in the Chick-fil-a photo booth!!
Perfect way to (almost) end the school week! Thank you to Chick-fil-a for inviting our family!

I am craving CFA so I think I may need to remedy that this weekend! Such fun finds at the shops – I get paid to style homes and my go to after second hand shops is always Marshall’s! Enjoy your weekend – 95 degrees here so no fall anything in our homes yet! xo
