Halloween Bar Cart Ideas
It appears I’ve held out as long as I could on the Halloween decorations! Yesterday I got the urge to bring the decor out of the attic. Decorating for Halloween and Fall has always stressed me out a little because the two are quite different in the way of style. I absolutely love fall decor…bring on the pumpkins, buffalo check and candles. But decorating for Halloween is a love-hate for me. My kids love to see all of the jack-o-lanterns, spiders and black cats. Just when I think I have the house the way I want it with the fall stuff, I have to start thinking about adding MORE stuff with Halloween. So this year, I am trying something different and just having a Halloween Bar Cart!
This bar cart is one of my favorite home purchases and I love decorating it for the seasons and holidays. I debated on adding it to the space and am so glad I got it.
Halloween Bar Cart Style
To start decorating this cart, I took everything off of it and gave it a good cleaning. Then I assessed what I had and liked of my Halloween decorations. Next, I ran through Target and Marshalls to see what fun things I could find. I bought a few items from the Dollar Spot and came home and got styling. I found many things from around my house too. For less than $20 and in under an hour I had decorated for Halloween…easy and clutter free!
I started at Target for inspiration and I first found the colorful plates. I then tried to find items to match with them. So I ended up with the spider pom garland, velvet pumpkins and twinkly lights. Of course, I also had to get candy! I bought a plate for each of the kids and thought it’d be fun to use them when we are watching Halloween movies.
Speaking of movies, I rounded up the few Halloween movies we own and grouped them on the cart. I realized we don’t have very many. So please send family friendly movie suggestions my way!
I already owned the copper and metal pumpkins and Moscow mule mugs so I thought they tied in well together. Let’s see how long the candy corn lasts in the mug. The kids haven’t noticed yet! I purchased the Hocus Pocus bowl a few months ago. True story, someone asked to buy the bowl off of me as I was leaving a store. I sure wasn’t willing to part with this find.
The cute little Halloween people are part of a large collection of Lori Mitchell figurines that we own. My mom gifted them to the kids as a little collection for each of them. The kids love seeing these collectibles come out for each season.

I made these little canvases with my kids four years ago. They were so little! I have one on the cart and will have to find a place for these other two. Was a fun and easy project and I’ll hang on to these forever.
I added a few decorations to the sliding door right next to the cart. This skeleton was made by one of the kids at school a few years ago. I love saving a select few of their seasonal art pieces and decorating with them. The kids like seeing their work displayed years later too!
I am not going to lie, this skeleton has already scared me a few times. It might be a long season with this guy!
I did one more fun thing for the holiday. As I mentioned in this post, I like to gather up picture books that fit with the holiday season. In addition to the holiday books, I gather up any holiday toys I have around the house. One of my favorite toys is Fisher Price Little People. Anyone else out there that loves these collections? My favorites are the sets made 7+ years ago. This little Halloween set we’ve had for many years. This actual set is played with all year long as it is a favorite. It’ll be a sad day when my youngest has outgrown Little People. The end is near for that so I’ll take any mileage I can still get out of them.

How you feel about Halloween decorating? Do you mix Fall with Halloween or prefer one over the other? If you are like me, maybe you can find one spot in your house to designate as the Halloween zone!
