Are you looking for a delicious Valentine’s Day cheese board? Here’s how to create this sweet and salty Valentine’s Day Charcuterie Board for a delicious snack or dinner!
How to Create a Valentine’s Day Cheese Board
Happy Monday! I hope you had a great weekend. We have a busy week ahead. So, we made some time this weekend to celebrate Valentine’s Day a little early. We watched a movie together and enjoyed a Valentine’s Day themed cheese and dessert platter! I had so much fun making a charcuterie board for the Super Bowl that I wanted to create another one with a Valentine’s Day twist. Whether you are planning a celebration with the kids or a date night in with your spouse, this sweet and salty Valentine’s Day Cheese Board would be a perfect treat!
The reason I love cheese boards is that the sky is the limit when it comes to what you can use! Start with a few favorite snacks items and then build a board from there! I picked up a few of the Valentine’s Day specific treats, but the rest of the items I already had in our refrigerator and pantry.
The best thing about a cheese board is that you can make it however you want. You don’t have to stick to a recipe!
Snack Ideas for a Valentine’s Day Charcuterie Board:
- Pretzels (Mini pretzel twists are perfect for dipping!)
- Animal crackers
- Crackers
- Nuts
- 2-3 Cheeses
- Pepperoni (Bonus points for cutting them into heart shaped pieces!)
- Chocolate candy hearts
- Candy conversation hearts
- Red Hot Candy
- Marshmallows
- Dried Fruit
- Popcorn
- Strawberries
- Grapes
- Bananas
- Melted milk chocolate
- Melted white chocolate
- Nutella
- French bread or pita bread
Don’t forget a fun drink to serve with your cheese board. For a kid friendly drink, you could offer sparking water or juice!
Mom tip: Cut up the cheese into bite size pieces to make a kid friendly option. While big chunks of cheese make for a pretty presentation, it is not always easy for kids to cut up their cheese!
It can be expensive to create a cheese board, so my favorite place to shop for it is Aldi. Their prices on cheeses can not be beat! Another way to keep the costs down, is limit cheese and meats and load the plate up on crackers and chocolate. No one will complain!
Valentine’s Day Movies for Kids & Family
Not sure what to do while enjoying your Valentine’s Day cheese board?? Movie nights are one of our favorite family traditions. It is only fitting to have a Valentine’s Day themed movie night. There are so many cute, family friendly movies that are all about LOVE!
Some of our favorites kid friendly movies for Valentine’s Day include:
- Lady and The Tramp
- Shrek
- Beauty and the Beast
- Gnomeo & Juliet
- Tangled
- The Princess Diaries
- My Girl (for bigger kids)
- Wall-E
- UP (such a sweet story!)
- Aladdin
- Be My Valentine Charlie Brown
If you opt for a date night in with your significant other, there are endless romantic comedy movies to pick! I’d have a hard time narrowing down my favorite romantic comedy but When Harry Met Sally will always be one of my favorites.

I think this is a neat twist on a normal charcuterie board. Putting the heart-shaped items on it will make for a fun Valentine’s celebration. Great idea!
This is my new impromptu Valentine’s Day plan with my family…thank you! I love these ideas…and they are perfect for both parents (cheese!) and kids.
I love this idea of combining sweet and savory on a cheeseboard.
The great thing about creating a cheese board or pretty trays of little things is that you can use up a lot of small amounts of crackers and fruit and still make it pretty!
What a beautiful cheese board! And yes, I agree, Aldi is a great place to get many of these. I think my family would love this for a fun Valentine’s Day lunch.
