Our Fall Front Porch Decor
Fall is my favorite season to decorate the house! It is easy to decorate the front porch for fall because you can use a lot of pumpkins and plants! You do not need to spend a lot of money on your fall porch decor! Each year I like to change up our fall front porch decor. But I still incorporate 8 Essential Front Porch Decor Ideas!
I will admit that I have a very small porch to work with. However, I am thankful that it is covered porch as it allows me to have things protected from the elements (like lanterns, pillow, etc.).
How do I decorate my porch for fall?
You can add a lot of fall porch decor without spending a lot of money!
There are so many elements you can add to your front porch, so it helps to have a game plan. Here are some of the fall decorating essentials to include in a fall front porch.
1. Add Cozy Seating
What is better than sitting out on your front porch in the fall? You do not need to have a large front porch to add in seating.
We have had two different types of seats on our small front porch.
First, we had a rocking chair which we absolutely loved. We loved to sit in it so much that we decided to move it to our back patio.
Black Indoor/Outdoor Rocking Chair (White option available here)
Then, we opted for a smaller porch chair to replace the rocking chair. The smaller chair fits the space a lot better but yet is still really functional. Our small front porch chair gets used daily. Whether I am sitting and watching the kids play or one of the kids is waiting for a bus.
2.Use Layered Door Mats
Nothing adds more texture and warmth to your front porch than a pair of layered doormats! The layered front door mat look is very trendy right now! I picked up our black and white (not buffalo check) doormat at Target last year.
I found this black and white outdoor large outdoor rug several years ago and it coordinates with any doormat I put on it. This black and white outdoor rug is a similar option.
Or you could opt for a large buffalo check rug. This pattern never goes out of style and it goes with everything!
Once you have your bottom layer rug, you then can add a fun fall doormat! This Hey there Pumpkin! doormat rug is so cute!
3. Decorate with a Wood Sign
If you are looking to add a little rustic/farmhouse feel, than a wood sign would be a perfect accessory.
It is also nice to break up all the color from the flowers and pumpkins with a different texture and element. I have a small pumpkin sign that I bought from Homegoods last year but I also love the bigger wood signs I have seen around.
4. Add Outdoor Pillows and Blankets
If you have any sort of seating then you will want to add a pillow or blanket. Not only is it cozy but also functional to have pillows and blankets!
Look for outdoor pillows especially if you do not have a covered porch. Here are some inexpensive Fall Pillows to choose from!
You could go for simple buffalo check pillows.
Or you could add a pop of color with this outdoor pumpkin pillow.
Or combine a buffalo check pillow with a fun fall graphic pillow!
Blankets are another fall front porch decor idea! If you like to sit on your front porch, a fall blanket would be functional and stylish!
Buffalo Check Outdoor Throw Blanket
Another inexpensive idea would be to use a colorful plaid blanket scarf instead of a big blanket! Some blanket scarves are almost as big a blanket!
I like to layer smaller inexpensive blankets for a cozy look.
I have been asked if my pillows and blankets get grungy after being outside. If I know it is going to rain a lot, then I will bring in the blankets and pillow. However, many times I forget to bring them in. This pillow and blanket have held up great over the years. I have thrown the pillow cover and blanket in the wash and they have cleaned up very well.
5. Use lighting to set the mood.
Your fall front porch can be cozy with the right lighting!
Lanterns are also a great option to add a different texture onto the porch. You can fill lanterns with pumpkins and twinkle lights. Or put flameless, battery operated candles into the lanterns for some pretty porch lighting.
Lanterns can be used for every holiday and season. So you will really get a good value when you buy lanterns for your front porch.
6. Use Pumpkins to Create a Fall Welcome
One of the easiest ways to add a fall vibe to your front porch is with pumpkins! Look for inexpensive pumpkins to decorate your front porch!
You could even opt for fake pumpkins! Not only will you be able to use the pumpkins year after year but they might hold up better than real pumpkins.
You can find faux pumpkins at Target, Homegoods and Marshalls.
7. Decorate Your Door with a Wreath
Of course, what porch is complete without a fall wreath. Your porch will really looked pulled together with a pretty fall wreath. You can buy a wreath or you could make your own. This pretty Buffalo Check Wreath idea from Lake Life State of Mind uses items from the Dollar Store.
This Gold and Brown Wreath is an inexpensive fall wreath option.
If your porch already has a lot of color, you may opt for a less busy wreath like this Eucalyptus Wreath.
8. Sip Coffee Outdoors with a Festive Mug
Finally, the idea of rocking on the porch with coffee in hand and snuggled under a warm blanket sounds wonderful! Â For a fun fall porch decor idea, be sure to get a festive fall mug!

I love the idea of a rocking chair for the reasons you stated. Also, the buffalo check is super cute, especially the orange and white pillows.
Jaclyn! I love the layered outdoor mat look- it looks like it helps to make it more durable too while being adorable 🙂
I think painting the rocking chair black would be great. I do love being outside when the weather is just right. We have pillows on the porch, that we bring in if it’s going to rain, but blankets are just something we kind of take back and forth!

I love the layered rug look! I plan on doing that on my porch this fall!
Rocking chairs really make a front porch or back porch for that matter. Love the welcome sign and pillows.
Super cute ideas! I do not usually dress up my front door area for fall except for a wreath. But now I will have to take a trip or two to the store to welcome fall in style.
Such awesome ideas! I love the lantern and other touches! I really need to step it up. I always put out a wreath and call it a day. You’ve inspired me to put in a little more effort.
Opps your blessing g says Pottery Barn for the green large pumpkin but the link is to Pier One

I love all of these choices to make your porch more appeasing for Fall! So pretty! It’s giving me all the Punkin’ spice vices. I especially love the black rocking chair. I didn’t realizing black looked so good against that color of orangish brown. Go girl.

These are so cute! I am terrible at putting decor together that actually integrates with the room. This is perfect!
