Friday Favorites: Tropical Vibes, Spring Clean Up and Leprechaun Treats
Happy Weekend! As per the usual Friday routine, I am linking up with Erika, Narci and Andrea for Friday Favorites. I’ll share a peek into our last few days and some of my favorites of the week.
Tropical Vibes
We don’t have any plans for a warm and beachy vacation anytime soon, but we were feeling a little stir crazy last weekend. So we decided to bring the tropical vibe to our house. Instead of our usual Friday pizza night, we had tacos and fruity drinks.
Sometimes you have to break out of the usual routine and do something a little different! We played our favorite beach tunes and got the blender out to make some margaritas and also kid friendly smoothies! We even got out our margarita glasses and fun straws:)
It might have been snowing outside, but we made the best of it and talked about our summer plans. My five year old said it was the ‘best party ever’.
Summer Purses
I certainly have summer on my mind. The stores are getting filled with cute spring and summer clothes and it is hard not to want to buy it all! I saw this new straw tote on Stella and Dot and fell in love! I love S & D purses and have a couple including their summer tote from last year.
I decided to look for some budget friendly summer purse options and came across this colorful straw tote on Amazon. I keep hearing about all the great clothes and purse finds on Amazon! I’m really happy with this tote. It is less structured than the Stella and Dot one, so it’ll be perfect for casual occasions. Plus, it was so affordable, so I won’t worry too much about it holding up at the pool and beach.
In addition to this purse, I wouldn’t mind finding a cute clutch! I keep seeing this fun one popping up on social media:
I also like this one because of the adorable poms on it. This clutch would go with everything!
For an option that is really whimsical, this ice cream purse would be so fun! It’d be perfect for those trips to the ice cream stand and storing your summer ice cream fund in it!
What type of purses are you into this spring and summer?
Kids Bathroom Organization
This week, we got back to the Clear the Clutter Challenge with bathroom organization. I took on my kids bathroom for the challenge and then shared tips for clean and organized kids bathrooms. My co-hosts Keri, Morgan and Holly shared some great ideas as well!
Next month, we will be working on clothing organization and I plan to get my closet ready for spring and summer! For more great ideas and inspiration, you can join our Clear the Clutter Facebook Group.
Spring Blog Clean Up
Speaking of organization and cleaning, I took a week off from my usual Wednesday post and worked on updating some of my old blog posts. Even in the short time I have been blogging, I’ve been trying to make improvements to the content and quality of the pictures and posts. Blogging is always a work in progress and I have so much to learn still!
A couple of my updated (and favorite) posts include:
Family Traditions to Start Today
Establishing Weekly Dinner Themes
I made improvements to my Pinterest boards and cleaned up and organized my pins. Sometimes, you have to move backwards to move forwards:)
Leprechaun Treats
Finally, every year my kids get in on the St. Patrick’s Day fun and build a leprechaun trip! Each year the kids have high hopes but the elusive leprechaun always gets away. We always have a little scavenger hunt for the kids on St. Patrick’s Day morning and they receive (real) gold coins for their efforts!
One day this week, I made some leprechaun treats for an after school snack –Lucky Charm Marshmallow Pops! I have been making marshmallow pops for the last few holidays and it is SO easy!
All you need: marshmallows, white chocolate, Lucky Charms and cake pop sticks! I found these colorful cake pops sticks on Amazon. I melted the white chocolate and then dipped the marshmallow (with the stick in it) into the chocolate and then sprinkled on cereal. One hint if you haven’t melted white chocolate in the microwave–you need to use 50% power or you will scorch the white chocolate (speaking from experience!).
Snack Mix Packets
Finally, if you have time to do one thing before the weekend, I encourage you to make ahead some snack packets! Last Saturday, before our busy day of kids activities started, I gathered up ingredients in my pantry to make trail mix packets. It seriously took me 10 minutes to make 20+ snack bags. The kids have been enjoying them all week long.
What I loved about making these is that the kids had something to grab on the go during our busy weekend. We didn’t have to worry about stopping for a snack or grabbing something from a vending machine while we were out and about.

The 7 day forecast doesn’t look all that promising either! Ugh. Have a great weekend!
A tropical themed dinner sounds so fun! We are still having cold weather in Southern Illinois and are so over it. Have a great weekend!
I love the pom pom clutch!
What a great idea to make ahead some snack bags – I need to try this. And those St. Patty’s Day treats are so cute!

Taco and Margarita night sounds great – love those glasses! Props for managing to get your children to drink green smoothies (wish I could get mine too – probably start trying when he was too old). Have a lovely week-end! Joanne x
Thanks Joanne! It’s hit or miss on the smoothies–I was a little worried since these turned out a little more green than usual. But the critics approved!
Looks like so much fun between the tropical night and St. Patrick’s Day!
Thanks Dara! We needed to added some fun to our dreary March!
