Hi Friends and Happy Friday! I can not believe we are halfway through October and it doesn’t really even feel like fall yet. Yesterday, the temperatures were in the 80s. Tonight we are going to a drive through Halloween display. It is not supposed to be too scary, which is good for my eight year old! Anyway, I hope you have had a good week. As usual, I am sharing some Friday Favorites in home, style and family.

Hallway Bench Makeover
This last week I did one of my quickest DIY home projects and I couldn’t be happier. This is our mud closet before the update.
I was inspired by this black mudroom bench I saw on Instagram. Instead of painting our whole bench area black, I started with the back wall. I’m so happy with how it turned out that I will not need to paint anything else. It is just the right amount of color.
Also, I moved the gray baskets down to the ground cubbies and it is so much more functional. The kids pile up their shoes and never throw them in the cubbies. So I am hoping by having bins on the bottom level, the floor will stay tidier.
The only thing I bought for this bench makeover was a new black and white rug. I considered three options but this one was the family favorite.
Target Christmas Bullseye Finds
I ran into Target the other day to pick up that new rug and I spotted Christmas decor in the Target dollar bins! It is just the beginning of what Target will put out for Christmas decor but as we all know, it gets bought up so quickly.
I love all the cute Ski Lodge decor and it makes me wish I had a cozy cabin!
These cozy throws are a total deal! I snatched up two of these in red and ivory. They are great to drape on a bench or a chair for an added layer of coziness.
I also got this small lazy susan metal tray. It will be good for displaying Christmas collections, like my small snowmen. Then, I can use this tray year round in my kitchen.
Lastly, I love these clear glass jars with the wooden lids. There is a Christmas gift tag included if you want to make homemade Christmas gifts. The nice thing is that the tags come off so you can use these jars year round. I might use them in our bathroom to store hair ties or cotton balls.
I know this is just the beginning of the Christmas decor in the Target Bullseye section, so I am excited to see what else comes out!
Home Decor Accessories Box
Last week, on Instagram, I talked about a brand new company called Knik Knak. It is a home decor company that delivers curated sets of decorative accents. For those of us that struggle with the finishing touches of home decorating, whether it is the dining table or a mantle, this company is designed or you!
I’m so excited about this company and I know it will help so many people. It is perfect if you like to decorate your home but do not have the time or desire to shop for home goods. Or, if you are like me, that struggles with making decisions on mantel decor or tablescapes.
Right now Knik Knak offers six curated collections including a fall harvest box. I was gifted the Hillside Hideout collection.
The Hillside Hideout box included:
- Large dark metal galvanized tray
- Glass vase with a leather wrap
- Faux Eucalyptus stems
- Set of four cloth napkins
- Four hammered brass and leather napkin rings
- Set of wood salt and pepper mills
- Half Baked Harvest Cookbook
I love that the styling work is done for me and I was able to set display the tray and accessories right on my dining room table. (I just added a few pumpkins to make it seasonal). Everything in the box is well crafted and these are pieces you do not see at Homegoods or other home stores.
You can receive 10% off your box when you sign up for their e-mail list.
Gifts for Tween Boys
Have you started Christmas shopping yet? I’m sure you have heard by now it may be tough to come by popular gifts and toys this holiday season. I am planning to start shopping early. This week, I updated my Gift Guide for Tween Boys.
I’ve included some new ideas for a total of 18 Gift Ideas for Tween Boys! Just about everything in the guide is something we own and that the boys love. You can take a look at the Gift Guide here.
Friday Wrap Up
That wraps up this week’s Friday Favorites! My youngest son is turning nine next Tuesday. I can not believe it. So, we will be doing a little bit of celebrating this weekend.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
