If you are looking for a kids subscription box, you will want to check out the Kids Night in Box. It is a monthly themed kids box filled with activities to engage your family in quality time!

What’s Included in the Kids Night in Box

If you have been following along on the blog, you know how much my family loves the Kids Night in Boxes. These boxes are filled to the brim activities and goodies to keep your kids busy and entertained! My kids are ages 6-12 and there is something for everyone with this subscription box! What we love about this monthly subscription is that it contains just about everything we need to have a few hours of family fun!

As the kids are getting older, our family is getting busier. So it can be hard to carve out family time that includes all of the kids! The Kids Night in Box is one of the few times of the month we can count on devoting a few hours of family fun together.

Each kids subscription box contains:

Instruction Booklet

Recipe Card

Materials for 2-3 crafts and activities

1 Children’s Book

Extra goodies!

We typically spend 1- 1 1/2 hours on each month’s Kids Night in Box. Each of the kids works together or individually on 1-2 projects. Then, we work together on the recipe and book!

Kids Night in Box Review

This month’s subscription box theme was Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. This theme was very appropriate to celebrate Earth Day last month!

This month’s box included the instruction booklet and recipe card, materials for three activities, a snack bar, the book “Don’t Throw That Away” and an adorable cactus snack bag!

The recipe came with two recipes. One was for a green smoothie and the other recipe was for avocado toast. I will admit that I have a few picky eaters, so I didn’t even attempt to try the avocado recipe with them. Even though I absolutely love avocado toast!

I didn’t have ingredients on hand for the smoothie, but I do plan to make it! Great recipe for an afterschool snack!

We started with reading the book,  Don’t Throw That Away! My six year old enjoyed this book–especially because it was a lift the flap book. So, we ended up reading it a few times before we moved on to the next activity. The instruction booklet came with some good pre and post reading prompts to discuss with the book. I especially liked that the questions were divided into age appropriate sections, so you could really engage kids of all ages in this activity.

Next, we worked on the art project. My youngest painted the paper all blue (as instructed).

Then, we let the paper dry while we ate our snack! The boys split the snack and absolutely loved this rice bar! We love this brand of cereal, but had not tried the snack bars until now. This will definitely be a snack we purchase in the future!

The boys worked on the Recycle versus Throw Away quiz. While it was a little easy of a quiz for my big kids, the six year old enjoyed reading it and discussing the different options.

Afterwards, we went back to the art project and completed the rest of the assignment. I helped the boys create paper flowers. The intent of the art project was to learn about using reusing materials for other activities.

This was a easy message for my kids as they LOVE to use old boxes, papers and cartons for their own creations. This lesson made me realize maybe I need to be more open to letting the kids use old boxes that I want to take to the recycle bin. Anyone else’s kids insist on keeping every large box that comes into the house?!

Lastly, we worked on what turned out to be everyone’s favorite activity! We played bubble games with the included bubble maker materials.

I was impressed with how big of bubbles the kids created using the mesh bag and toilet paper roll! I could see my kids wheels turning as they realized how easy it was to make a bubble machine (with household materials).

This month’s Kids Night in Box was a great way to reinforce the importance of taking care of our Earth. Plus, we learned some easy and unique ways to do our part to reduce, reuse and recycle.

Some Kids Night In boxes come with several art projects but this one seemed to be a little more short and sweet. Which, honestly, sometimes, a shorter activity works out perfectly for our schedule and attention spans:)
