We recently had the opportunity to spend a weekend to review Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park at Kozy Rest and it was a fun and memorable outdoor adventure for our family! I am sharing all of the details on this campground plus you can enter to win a 2 Nights Stay at Jellystone Park at Kozy Rest!
Review Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park at Kozy Rest
When I was contacted about the opportunity for my family to review Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park in Pennsylvania, I was very excited. First, because we have never stayed at this campground (or any other one) as a family. It has been years since my husband and I camped and I will admit those experiences did not make me rushing back for another camping trip. My memories of those trips include lack of sleep, lots of mud and a serious case of poison oak! So, since we have had kids, our camping experiences have been exclusively in our backyard!
But, our kids have been asking for more outdoor experiences and a trip to Kozy Rest was the perfect opportunity to get out of our camping comfort zone.
Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Parks
I honestly did not know anything about Jellystone Parks even though I have always seen them around. There are so many AWESOME amenities and features to know about these campgrounds. Each of the Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Parks are independently owned and operated. However, from what I have seen, all of them share some similar features yet have some unique differences. The particular location we stayed at, Jellystone Park at Kozy Rest was 2017 Park of the Year, so it is definitely a GREAT location! It is located just 50 miles north of Pittsburgh.
Lodging Options
There are a few options for sleeping at Kozy Rest! While many seasoned campers bring their RVs, there are several other ways to stay.
We stayed in a PET FRIENDLY Cabin that is designated to sleep up to 6 people. It was so nice to bring our dog and to not have to worry about arrangements for him. There are even activities for dogs…more on that in a minute!
Our cabin was perfect in every way! It was extremely clean and well appointed. The cabins come equipped with a kitchen some small appliances like toaster, microwave and coffee maker. Paper products, utensils, plates and dish soap are also included. You DO need to bring your own bed linens and bath towels.
There was plenty of room for all of us. The two older kids slept in the loft area. The bedroom had two sets of bunk beds one of which was a double bed on the bottom.
There was plenty of room in the cabin to eat and hang out!
Plus, there was a nice porch to sit outside –to enjoy a cup of coffee:)
If you are looking for more of an outdoor adventure, you can bring your own tents for one of their campsites. Or, if you want a mixture of primitive and “glamping”, you could stay in a Yurt! These looked so fun!
What to Do at Jellystone Park Kozy Rest
The biggest reason to go to this Jellystone Park is the abundance of amenities and activities! We were honestly blown away by all of the things we were able to do at Kozy Rest. It truly does feel like you are at “overnight camp”. Many activities are included in your park stay. Some of the crafts and activities have a very nominal fee.
Upon check-in, you receive a schedule of family activities. There is something on the agenda almost every hour of the day! Also, there is a camp “theme” each week and the theme of our weekend was “Carnival”!
Some of our favorite activities included BINGO, carnival games and ceramic painting. But, honestly, there were so many fun things to do, it is hard to narrow it down to a favorite!
The first night of our trip, we had fun at Candy Bar Bingo! We even won 3 candy bars:)
We couldn’t get enough of the BINGO fun and played two more times over the weekend!
One afternoon we got to play old fashioned carnival games!
We also took a night time tractor tractor ride, watched Saturday morning cartoons in the Rec Center and participated in a Candy Walk!
My daughter and I painted garden gnomes at a pottery workshop.
Free Attractions
Besides all of the scheduled activities, you can utilize all of the park’s FREE attractions including:
- Outdoor Pool
- Miniature Golf
- Pedal Carts
- Basketball Court
- Dog Park (enclosed park area for your pup!)
- Playground
- Bounce Pad
- Photo opportunities with Yogi Bear and Boo Boo
- Gaga Ball Pit (the kids especially loved joining in on this!)
- Horseshoe Pit
- Shuffleboard
- Game Room
- General Store with frozen treats and coffee
We cruised around the campsite on a four seater pedal bike. I sure got my exercise!
My six year old loved the ability to play putt putt over AND over again–all for free!
The kids had fun trying to get our dog to do the obstacles at the dog park!
It was fun to see Yogi Bear! We even attended his flag raising on Saturday morning.
Highlights of Our Camping Trip
My six year old’s highlight of the trip was mining for gems! It is all he asked about doing, so this was his one souvenir.
Probably, my ten year old’s favorite activity was the Laser Tag course! One of the scheduled activities was a kids versus clowns laser tag game. Laser tag is $8 per person and you must be 7 and up. The laser tag course was unlike anything we have every seen. So much fun for the kids!!
One of my favorite parts of the trip was eating all of the yummy (camping) food. We made walking tacos for dinner.
My ten year old and I stopped by the Rootbeer (and Creamsicle) social for $1 floats!
The boys roasted hot dogs over our fire pit!
Also, we LOVED the cinnamon rolls that a local Amish family was selling one morning at the campsite.
We certainly did not go hungry!
Most of all, we loved the (mostly) screen free family time that this trip allowed. We didn’t watch TV, play video games or spend too much time on our phones. It was a perfect weekend getaway!

Our visit to Kozy Rest, really got us planning and dreaming of future camping trips! It was the perfect mix of outdoor fun with modern conveniences and amenities!
So many planned activities! We never had to think about what to do as there was always an activity on the schedule!
The opportunity to relax! If scheduled activities aren’t your thing, you can certainly unwind and relax at Kozy Rest! If there was not an activity we wanted to go to, we could spend time at the pool, playground, hike or just chill in our cabin!
Pet friendly accommodations. Many of the cabins are pet friendly (Dogs are not allowed in the Yurts). It was so nice to have the option to bring our dog. How often can you bring your pet on a family trip?!
Very friendly staff Honestly, everyone was so happy and friendly! My daughter even commenting how it felt like we got to know everyone that worked there as you see them at all the activities throughout the stay.
Beautiful wooded setting Kozy Rest is located in the beautiful hills of Pennsylvania. It is a beautiful and scenic location.
