30 Days to Spring Clean Your Home
Now that the warm weather is about to arrive, it is time to SPRING CLEAN our whole house! It is really important to give your home a thorough cleaning on a yearly or semi annual basis! Cleaning your home is the best way to maintain or even add value to your home. While you might clean and tidy your home every day or every week, it is good idea to tackle the entire house with a big spring clean.
I have to admit that I have never intentionally set aside time to spring clean until the last few years. I’ve never really followed a spring cleaning schedule or checklist Instead I would just clean what I noticed needed attention. However, I found that I would neglect to do some things and when I finally realized a spot needed attention, it would be in bad shape. I’m looking at you, VERY dusty ceiling fan!
For the last few years, I have been much more intentional with my spring cleaning tasks. I follow a list of spring cleaning tasks so that I can special attention to the entire house. Plus, for the fourth year in a row, I have teamed up with Keri for the 30 Day Spring Cleaning Challenge! It is so nice start spring off with a clean house! Soon, warmer days will be here and we will be thinking about summer BBQs and days at the pool and vacations!
We want to provide an easy way to tackle these spring cleaning tasks now so that you do not have to think about them later this year.
First, we have a spring cleaning checklist so that you know exactly what you need to get done each day. Just one spring cleaning task each day for 30 days! The Challenge begins on Monday, March 21st. Here are 11 Best Spring Cleaning Tips for getting started:
Do you need a little motivation to get started? Get ready to clean your whole house with these easy tips!
1. Set a date to get started.
The first step to spring cleaning is to decide when you will start! You will want to look at your calendar and set a date to get started. You are more likely to get motivated if you have a specific date and time you have set to get started! Our 30 day challenge begins on March 9th, but once you download the checklist, you can start anytime.
I’d recommend you take a look at your calendar and set aside some time each day to work on the checklist. If you need to skip a day due to prior commitments, schedule in the date and time that you will make up the missed tasks!
2 . Enlist help
Does it seem overwhelming to tackle your house on your own? You shouldn’t have to do spring cleaning alone. Your whole family can have a part in spring cleaning. You can even put your family members initials next to each task so you know who is responsible.
If you have little ones, you can break down the tasks into smaller projects. Or you can team up family members to work together on certain projects!
3. Gather up your cleaning solutions.
The worst thing that can happen as you are geared up to start spring cleaning is that you do not have all the cleaning products you need. Check that all of your cleaning solutions are full! Make sure you have plenty of glass cleaner, all purpose cleaner. If you are making DIY cleaning solutions you will want mild dish soap, baking soda, vinegar and lemon juice. As those the most common ingredients in homemade cleaning solutions. Our spring cleaning kit comes with recipes for homemade cleaning products.
4. Make sure you have all the cleaning tools ready for your first day.
Be sure to have big plastic bags or garbage bags on hand for trash. Don’t forget about clean towels, spray bottles, microfiber cloths, paper towels, buckets and sponges. If you have your family helping you, make sure to enough cleaning supplies for everyone.
5. Follow a plan
As I mentioned earlier, it really helps to have a plan so that you do not miss anything. It is better to get all the spring maintenance done at one time instead of here and there throughout the year. Download our checklist and enjoy crossing each item off the list as it is finished! There are even a few extra spaces on the checklist to add any extra items you want to tackle!
With that being said, if you need to modify the plan based on your schedule, by all means go ahead and do so! There are days we have more time than other ones. Use your less hectic days to get more done! If you have a busy work schedule, maybe you tackle your spring cleaning over 4 weekends in a month! You have to figure out what works best for you!
6. Prepare for setbacks and adjust your plan.
The 30 day spring cleaning plan may take you more or less time. It is okay if you need to skip a day and then combine several tasks another day. Some people choose to spring clean in an entire weekend! Other people need to take longer than a month to complete all of the spring cleaning tasks. Also, some tasks require a little extra time than you have on a particular day. So, you can always swap one activity for another one!
7. Open the windows!
Let the fresh spring air come into the home! Not only does it feel good to breath in the fresh air, it lets out air that has been circulated inside your home for months!
Decide on a reward before you start the challenge and use the prize to keep you motivated throughout! Last year, I had the kids help me with some spring cleaning over their spring break.
8. Make it fun.
Spring cleaning does not have to be a boring job! Make it a great time by playing music or listening to a podcast. Set mini goals for yourself and take breaks when you need to rest!
9. Start with easier cleaning tasks.
Sometimes, it helps to have small wins before you tackle big projects. So, try a few of the smaller spring cleaning tasks on the calendar first. Then, after you see the progress you have made with those first spring cleaning tasks, take on some of the bigger projects!
10. Remember your why
While you are working hard, it is easy to lose motivation. Remember why you are spring cleaning your home! Think about how good you will feel about the end result. You are taking care of the place you spend most of your life in! Spring cleaning will help to maintain and add value to your home. You will clear your home of germs, dust and debris. It will be a great feeling when it is all done!
11. Celebrate your hard work!
You worked hard to clean your house! Now, you can enjoy the fruits of your labor. You might want to treat yourself (and everyone that helped you) to a nice meal out. Or maybe you will want to buy yourself a pretty bouquet of spring flowers! Deep cleaning is no joke. So pat yourself on the back for a job well done!

Oooh I️ definitely need to join you guys for this! My house needs a good Spring Cleaning!
I’m planning on signing up for your challenge! I seriously need some help getting myself motivated to clean my home and I think this will help 🙂 I normally just deep clean my kitchen and bathrooms, wash my walls, and get my carpet cleaned by my local carpet cleaner for “spring cleaning.” I moved into a bigger home just a few weeks ago, so I’ll definitely need to clean more this spring!
Oh yes– getting the carpets cleaned is a good idea! I usually do that around the holidays.
Such a great plan!!! Thank you!
Such good tips! I am excited to get going!
It’s really the only time of year that I don’t mind cleaning….love opening the windows and airing out all of that winter! Thanks for the checklist an inspiration as always 🙂
This is really the only time I get excited about cleaning- when you can open the windows and air out the house- it just smells of hope! Thanks for sharing your awesome ideas as always Jaclyn!
