This month’s Stitch Fix Box contained colorful and fun outfits for summer! Read all the details on my Stitch Fix May 2019. Plus, I am sharing tips for getting the most out of your Stitch Fix clothing box!
If you have been following me awhile, you know that I started ordering Stitch Fix clothing boxes earlier this year. I love clothing subscription boxes for a few reasons. First, as a busy mom it is hard to find the time to go clothing shopping for myself! I am picking up clothing items for my kids all of the time, but I rarely have the time to devote to a trip to the mall! So, I feel like Stitch Fix and my other favorite clothing subscription box, Trendsend, are like my own personal shopping assistants!
While, in the past, Stitch Fix hasn’t nailed down my style, I do think they are starting to find what I like.
The other thing I like about clothing subscriptions is that you get a chance to try out some styles that you might not normally pick for yourself. When shopping on your own, you might steer clear of certain styles and colors. So, when you are sent a box of clothing to try (in the comfort of your home), you get a chance to try some different ideas. Often times, the items that are things I wouldn’t have picked end up being the items I like the most!
Stitch Fix Review May 2019
The pieces in this month’s box were mostly casual, summer pieces. I received 3 tops and 2 pairs of shorts.
One big thing I did when I tried on this month’s pieces was to style each item with my own clothing. Stitch Fix does provide you with outfit ideas for each clothing item, but they do not include those pieces. So you do have to look in your own closet to complete the look. Usually, when I get a clothing box, I pull everything out and immediately decide on items I do not like. Sometimes, I wouldn’t even try on the items that didn’t initially appeal to me. But this Stitch Fix order, I decided to really try out each piece and give the item a chance. I have to say that I ended up liking more items than I initially thought once I tried them on.
Stitch Fix Item #1: Romey Cold Shoulder Knit Top
My first item in my May Stitch Fix box was this blue and white striped cold shoulder top. It was nice and roomy and also a good length.
I prefer cold shoulder tops that are open at the top of the shoulders versus the upper arm. However, it is hard to resist a cute striped shirt as they always go with everything. This top was priced at $34.
Stitch Fix Item #2: K & C Floral Knit Tank Top
Next up was a very colorful knit tank top. The print has a bunch of pretty shades of purple. It is also a nice long length.
I could see wearing this tank with some white jeans for a dressier look. But I like that the knit material of this tank makes it casual enough to wear for an everyday look.
This floral tank was the most expensive top in the box priced at $44.

Stitch Fix Item #3 Loveappella Black Swing Kit Top
You can not go wrong with a nice, black tank. However, I have almost the same exact top that I got in a Trendsend box last year.
This tank can certainly go with everything and I appreciate that my stylist sent me a classic staple.
I think this tank is a good deal priced at $34.
Stitch Fix Item #4: Level 99 Cindie Printed Short
My next item was something that I almost wasn’t even going to try on. These printed shorts are something that I would have never picked out myself.
I couldn’t think of anything that I would have to wear in my closet. Then, I remembered had this green tank I got from Marshalls a few weeks ago. After I added my jean jacket to the outfit, I really liked the look.
Unfortunately, these shorts are on the pricey side at $78.
Stitch Fix Item #5: Cosmic Blue Love Pocket Short
The last item in this month’s Stitch Fix box is these light purple pocket shorts. These shorts could be a nice, casual option instead of jean shorts. I’ll be honest that these shorts are the least favorite item in the May box.
I almost didn’t share me wearing these because the fit does not work for me at all. But, I wanted to be sure to share all of the outfit looks!

Helpful Hints When Ordering a Fix
This month’s Stitch Fix was truly the best box I have received from them. The stylists listened to my feedback and delivered on my requests. I specially asked for tops in the $30-$40 range and also for summer pieces I could wear every day.
Some tips to keep in mind when ordering your Stitch Fix Box:
- Be sure your Style Profile is completely filled out. If you have completed a profile in the past and anything has changed, you will want to be sure to update the information.
- Take advantage of the daily Style Quizzes available on the Stitch Fix phone app. These quizzes really help Stitch Fix narrow in on your style. I try to do the quizzes a few times a week! They are quick and easy and you just give a thumbs up or thumbs down to outfit pieces!
- If you have a specific clothing piece you want, you can request your entire order to be a selection of that item. For instance, if you need a new pair of jeans, consider asking for 5 pairs of jeans to try! You are bound to receive one pair that you like!
- Take a good look at your closet BEFORE you fill out your style profile. You want to get items that you truly want or need. For instance, if you tell the stylist you are open to anything, but you truly do not need any tops and then your order contains tops, you will end up being disappointed.
How to Join Stitch Fix
There is a $20 styling fee that will be applied to your order if you decide to keep anything. Otherwise you do not get back the $20 fee. You fill out a very detailed style profile to help your stylist select things that are your style.
The nice thing about Stitch Fix is that if you keep all five items, you will receive a 25% discount off your order. Stitch Fix offers women’s sizes 0-24W & XS-3X,. They also offer subscriptions for me and children! My daughter just tried out a Stitch Fix Kids box!
The average price point is $55 per item but you can decide how much you are willing to pay for each category–pants, tops, accessories, etc. This past month, I requested that the tops fall within the $30-$40 price range and they did a good job of sticking close to that request!
The Stitch Fix women’s line works with over 250 established and up and coming brands. There is clothing for every style type–classic, preppy, edgy, etc! They even offer athleisure clothing and shoes!
Honestly, if you haven’t had a chance to give Stitch Fix a try, I recommend ordering one month! It’s fun to receive mail for YOU! To sign up for Stitch Fix and fill out your request! (my affiliate link) and $25 off your first order!!
I still need to decide on what to keep from this box! I’ll share my picks over on my Instagram Stories this week!

I LOVE those floral shorts, but that’s a high price point! I did StitchFix a few years ago, when I lived in D.C. & had an office to go into, but I sent back for items than I kept, so I cancelled my subscription. I’d be curious to see if they worked better for me this time around… & am thinking about trying!
I really like the shorts too but I wish they were half the cost! I know I’d get some good use out of them this summer..hmm! Let me know if you try a new box–love seeing what everyone gets in theirS!!
I wish Stitch Fix was less expensive. I might try this new service called Fashom that’s supposed to cost less. I like the tops you got in here though!
I haven’t heard of Fashom! You’ll have to let me know how it is! I was glad the tops were less expensive than in previous orders but they can be pricey!
I think everything looks adorable on you BUT my fave is the black and white outfit- love it!
