Trader Joe’s Shopping List for Summer
For the second year in a row, I headed to Trader Joe’s the last week of the school year to stock up on summer snacks and lunches! Trader Joe’s has the best seasonal food finds of any grocery store I go to. I love the variety and the unique items.
My kids absolutely love when I make a visit to Trader Joe’s. Some of their favorite snacks are from Trader Joe’s.
I have updated my Trader Joe’s Summer Shopping List, so if you got my list last year, you will want to download the new one as well!
One other reason I went to Trader Joe’s this week is to see if I could find some inexpensive teacher and bus driver gift ideas. I started with these beautiful peonies flowers. Oh my goodness, these flowers are perfection. I grabbed a bouquet of these for myself as well.
Trader Joe’s also has mini succulent plants and a lot of herbs. You could package this into a fun gift idea!
Trader Joe’s Summer Finds
There are so many great things at Trader Joe’s that you can take to your beach, pool or picnic outing! I love stopping at Trader Joe’s before a road trip because of the great portable snack options.
Summer Snack Favorites
Is it just my kids or do yours want to snack all day at the pool or beach? I can never bring enough food! To combat their requests for snacks at the concessions stands, I try to bring fun and healthy snack options. I also am the mom that packs a ton of food for a road trip. We do not like stopping for too long while we are driving and the food options at the rest stops are always limited.
Here are some of Trader Joe’s snack favorites for the pool, beach or road trip:
All of their portable snacks like these hummus and pretzel snack packs!
The cut up fruit is reasonable priced and so easy to throw in a cooler for a summer outing.
We like the individual selection of granola and protein bars because everyone can pick out a favorite or two.
Everyone loves these mini cracker sandwiches that come in two varieties-cheese and peanut butter.
The Animal Crackers and Alphabet Crackers are a big hit. These are great to throw in a picnic basket or pool bag.
Trader Joe’s has a big selection of dried fruit and nuts and seeds. We love these Just Mango Slices.
The kids love these Organic Yogurt Squeezes. We keep them in the freezer for a really refreshing snack option.
This looks Grand Slam Snack like a festive treat for summer!
Picnic and BBQ Favorites
If you are looking for easy portable meal options at Trader Joe’s, there are so many to choose from! From healthy salads to delicious dips, Trader Joe’s has it all! Seriously the Dip selection is so huge, you could try out a few dips every week all summer long!
Some of the best Trader Joe’s Dips include the Everything but the Bagel Greek Style Yogurt Dip and the Avocado Tzatziki Dip.
We use the Avocado Tzatziki Dip for our tacos, chips and veggies.
Trader Joe’s has a ton of ready made salads too! These salads are great for a picnic or to pack in the cooler for a road trip.
The prices on Trader Joe’s premade salads are very reasonably priced, so you can stock up a few different ones.
If you want to make your old salads, you will want to try the Trader Joe’s refrigerated salad dressings! All of them are so good but my favorite is the Almond Butter and Turmeric Salad Dressing!
You could also bring a few pre-made salads to share like this Mango Jicama Slaw.
Or, if you are looking to make a salad with Trader Joe’s ingredients, check out this delicious Greek Salad from Lake Life State of Mind.
Another Trader Joe’s lunch option is hot dogs or sausages. There are so many different meat options to choose from (even vegan too).
I like all of the chicken sausage varieties.
Cheese and Crackers
For a fun picnic idea, bring some cheese and crackers. The cheese selection at Trader Joe’s is HUGE!
How cute and fun are these mini Brie packets?
This Blueberry Cheese is delicious! Perfect for a Red, White and Blue Summer Charcuterie Board!
Pair the cheeses with some Trader Joe’s Crackers. These Gluten Free Beet Crackers are so good!
Trader Joe’s really brought the Everything Bagel Seasoning to the forefront of snacking! These crackers are really good!
There are so many delicious chips and snacks at Trader Joe’s. Usually I let my kids each pick out one snack, otherwise we would end up with a cart full of treats.
How do you think you would like this pickle flavored popcorn? I am so intrigued, so I brought a bag home with me. I am waiting to try with the kids!
I’ve got a few other new chip ideas on the Printable Summer shopping list!
Refreshing Drink Ideas
Is it time to cool off with a refreshing summer drink? Trader Joe’s has a lot of unique summer beverage options. Trader Joe’s has some of the usual canned drink options including Spindrift. But, if you are looking for something a little more unique, try one of these unique flavor combinations.
We brought home this Watermelon Cucumber and it is really good poured over ice.
While this Cold Brew Coffee is available at Trader Joe’s most of the time, it is an especially good drink for the summer time! This cold brew is a great afternoon pick me up.
Desserts and Treats
What is summer without a ton of ice cream and S’mores! Trader Joe’s has summer treats that are the most perfectly sized portions! Here are a few of our favorite Trader Joe’s summer desserts:
These Yummy Cold Brew Dessert Bars are the perfect afternoon pick me up!
For the perfectly portion dessert, try one of the Mini Hold the Cone treats.
Another good choice are these Ice Cream Sandwiches with mini chocolate chips. Yummy!
Of course summer must include homemade S’Mores. Trader Joe’s has our favorite graham crackers and a lot of gourmet chocolate to choose from.
This year, there was a big watermelon theme at Trader Joe’s.
I have never head Watermelon fruit spread or watermelon and chocolate! But these watermelon finds looked really good!
One thing about Trader Joe’s is that you always leave with a few things you didn’t plan on. On our most recent shopping trip, I picked up a few unique summer finds!
This Watermelon face mist smells and feels amazing! My cashier recommended keeping the Watermelon spray in the fridge for a cool face mist! I am glad I purchased two bottles–one for at home and one bottle to keep in the pool bag!
New this year is this Overnight Watermelon Face Mask. This mask feels amazing. I think I am going to keep it in my daughter’s beauty fridge so that is is extra cool and refreshing!
Another new find is this Peony Blossom Foaming hand soap. I usually make my own hand soap, so this was a little treat. But the soap smells AMAZING! I should have bought more to give as small gifts (with a gift card).
This hair mask looks so good for the summer. Our hair gets so dried out from the heat and pool. This might be a year round product offering, but it is definitely most helpful in the summer time.
My daughter was with me on the shopping trip and she spotted these beeswax food bags. We have been wanting to try beeswax wraps as a eco friendly alternative to plastic sandwich bags. The price was right on these ($9.99) as they can be more expensive elsewhere. These bags will come in handy for summer outings!
Also, I usually pick up the Trader Joe’s suntan lotions. There are several different options including a face stick and a sunscreen spray that my kids prefer.
