Happy Wednesday! I am participating in a fun link up up with Shay, Sheaffer, and Mel for What’s up Wednesdays. It’s nice to look back on the month and review some of our May Favorites! May is always a CRAZY month filled with end of the year school activities! I’m so excited that June is just about here and we can get started on summer!
What we’re eating this week….
After a weekend full of good food and drink, we are getting back to a healthy dinner menu! Memorial Day weekend is all about celebrating the start of summer, so that means lots of BBQ foods and a few margaritas! #noregrets
This week we are keeping it easy since most of our evenings are filled with Little League and Swim Team practices
Tuesday: Eggroll in a Bowl from Pizza & Pull Ups
Wednesday: Crockpot BBQ Chicken Sandwiches(for kids) and over Baked Potatoes (for adults)
Thursday: Leftovers
Friday: Chicken and Pineapple Skewers with Rice
Saturday: Dinner Out
Sunday: Enchiladas from the Magnolia Table cookbook
What I’m reminiscing about…
This month has been totally Mad Madness! All fun things so I can not complain. We started with a fun Mother’s Day celebration which included time with my family and my mom.
One of my favorite Mother’s Day gifts were there Rae Dunn vases!
I went on TWO field trips with my 3rd grader including a memorable trip to the zoo.

This month, I also put away our spring decor and the house got decked out for summer! Our favorite update was our tropical themed tiered tray. Nothing says summer more than pineapples and flamingos:) More details here.

This month, my little guy finished up his final year of preschool. So, we spent the second half of May with a lot of quiet afternoons at home. I can’t believe he is going to be a kindergartner (I’m not counting him as an official one until August #imtoosad).
We ended the month with a trip to Wisconsin to visit family friends over Memorial Day weekend. This trip including bbqs, outdoor activities and the dads taking the kids to see the new Star Wars movie.
My friend and I picked up these emoji bubble balls at Aldi to provide the kids with a fun activity. The little kids were a perfect fit for these balls! (Our friends already owned the big green bubble ball–perfect for kids and adults).
We couldn’t decide if we made the best or the worst decision of the day by purchasing these balls. A “few” tears were shed but everyone had a lot of FUN playing with these.
It was an usually hot Memorial Day weekend! We made the best of it with a few fun drinks throughout including these Bloody Mary’s.
On Memorial Day, we surprised the kids with a last minute trip to Noah’s Ark Waterpark at the Wisconsin Dells!
We were just a little bit nervous on our drive when we saw the dark clouds in the direction of the waterpark!
Fortunately, after a few minutes of sprinkles, the clouds cleared and the weather was perfect(ly hot!). It was a great day and entire weekend with a lot of food and fun!
Memorial Day weekend is such a great kick off summer. Although, I will admit, it was a little tough for us to get back to our school routine after the weekend. However, the kids only have 6 days to go!!
What I’m wearing…
I didn’t but any new clothes this month as part of my May Challenge. So, I am looking forward to my next Trendsend order that should arrive in early June.
Also, I am eyeing a lot of cute things from Hi Sugarplum’s new Gibson collection at Nordstrom. I’ve been following Cassie and her blog for years and I have loved her fashion and home decor! Her new collection has so many cute pieces!!
My favorite include this romper:
I also love this high low halter tank (love the back tie!):
This ruffle tank is so adorable too! So many of the pieces in this line have ruffles, ties or other cute details!
I LOVE so many of these Hi Sugarplum pieces!
What I’m dreading…
Well, it is hard to have anything to dread when summer break is just around the corner. But, as much as I love summer break, it is also a little crazy having all of the kids at home. Each of the kids has a few planned summer camps including safety town, Bible camp and a sleep away camp (for my oldest). But otherwise, we hope to have a lot of down time and family time! Yesterday, I shared a personal post on Why I’m Letting My Kids Be Bored this summer. Let me know what you think on this opinion!
My biggest project/activity I’m dreading is getting ready for our upcoming garage sale! I have mixed thoughts on garage sales…partly I think it’s a great excuse to get purge things and it’s fun to do a sale and partly I think it’s a waste of time considering the actual profit compared to the amount of work required:) Where do you stand on GARAGE SALES??
What I’m looking forward to…
Everything about summer!
What I am working on….
See above discussion about my garage sale project:)
Also, I’m working on our next Clear the Clutter Challenge which is PAPER ORGANIZATION! We focused on garage organization during the month of May.
Now it is timely to talk about paper organization as the kids come home with TONS papers/projects from the end of the school year! Be sure to join our Clear the Clutter Facebook group for more tips and inspiration!
What I am reading…
This month I read two books–actually both of them on our road trip over Memorial Day Weekend!
The first book was Little Fires Everywhere. I really enjoyed this one but especially because I grew up in a suburb really close to where this fictional book took place. The author referenced a lot of actual stores and landmarks from the real town. Even without the town references, the book was interesting and easy to read!
The second book I read was Summer Island by Kristin Hannah. I bought two Kristin Hannah book from the used book store and I had high hopes for Kristin Hannah books. Neither of her other two books have come close to the Nightingale. Summer Island was a captivating read and perfect for a beach or pool read!
I’d recommend adding both books to your summer reading list!

Well, that about wraps up my May highlights! The days can be long but the weeks and months FLY BY!
See you back here for FRIDAY FAVORITES!
Our local news just did a piece on Rae Dunn. Sounds like you had a really Good May.

Wow that is so crazy the RD craze has made it to the local news!
It’s been years since I’ve been to Wisconsin Dells but I have great memories there! Looks like your kids had a blast!!! I love your kimono you’re wearing in the picture with your sweet momma!
How fun you’ve been there too! The last time I had been there was when I was 12 years old, so I was glad to be able to take my kids.
Your Memorial Day Weekend looked like so much fun Jaclyn- I love the emoji balls- so much fun! Love the tops you shared too and will definitely check out Summer Island for a good beach read- have a great week!
Happy Summer Holly! Hope you have a good week too!!
Putting skewers on the meal list good idea. I want to purchase Magnolia cookbook. What a fun activity for the kids looks like they had a blast.
I rarely think to make skewers but there are so many ways to make them!
Love those tops and love the menu options you have! checking out those tops now, though!
So many adorable pieces in the new Gibson line! I need to narrow down my selections:)
I love your chalkboard with your summer bucket list on it! You won’t be able to forget anything. Great idea!!
Thanks Andrea–it is a great visual reminder everytime we are in the kitchen. our guests love to look at it too!
Those bubble balls look funny! We went to Noah’s Ark in WI Dells a few years back and had fun there! It rained a bit when we were there too. I might have to join in on paper organization for clear the clutter…I have too many school papers still!
Please do Dara!! It is a timely challenge. So cool you have been to Noah’s Ark too!!
What a lovely post. I love your flamingo display, my daughter is mad for them.
Yes my 11 year loves them too! I had to scoop up all the flamingo items when I saw them at Target!
Sounds like a busy month! My youngest just finished kindergarten and I can’t believe she will be in first grade in the fall. It’s crazy how fast time goes! Also, I love your large chalkboard area. What a neat idea.
So sad! Kindergarten is only half day here so it’s really not too bad…first grade will be a lot harder on me:(
You have the cutest home decor! Hope you enjoyed the egg roll in a bowl!
Thanks Emily! Yes yum–love your recipe:)
Sounds like you had a really great May! I hope summer is just as enjoyable. Love those emoji bubble balls. My oldest niece and nephew would love them.
