If you are looking for a meaning way to connect with your kids, the Kids Night in Box is a perfect activity! We are sharing the details of our Mission Space Kids Night in Box!
What to expect with the Kids Night In Box
We are always looking for ways to carve out quality time with the kids. As the kids have gotten older and busier than ever, it can be hard to find common ground for a few hours. The Kids Night In Box gives us a chance to slow down and spend a couple of hours with each other. Even though there is a five year age gap between our oldest and youngest, this subscription box has something for everyone! The kids take on different roles with the box and we draw on everyone strengths and interests to complete all of the activities. The last Kids Night in Box was so much fun, so we had high expectations for this month’s box!
This month’s box was jam packed with activities! The theme for this month was OUTERSPACE! So, we got to learn a lot about astronauts in space.
This month’s box included:
Materials for FIVE activities
Space Yoga Instruction Cards
Two Recipe Suggestions
Cosmic Snack (Real astronaut ice cream)
Glow in the Dark Stars
The book “Astronaut Living in Space”
Astronaut Certificate and Passport
It is so important to review the instructions before getting the kids involved, because they like to move quickly!
Space Themed Activities
We lucked out with beautiful weather this past weekend. So, we took our Kids Night In box outdoors!
We started off with the projects that involved colored and there were enough for each of the kids to work on one or two. My daughter colored the telescope, then the boys worked on coloring astronaut friends and a rocket ship scene.
While the kids worked on their coloring projects, I read the book out loud. It was an informative book and we all learned some new things about the astronaut’s life in space!
My six year old had fun testing out the telescope. The box also came with some glow in the dark stars to use for a scavenger hunt around the house. My boys opted to decorate their bunk beds with the stars. These stars were probably the boys favorite thing that came in the box!!
Space Food for Kids
We took a little snack break to try the space ice cream. Three out of four of us liked it (I actually thought it was pretty good!).
Our Favorite Kids Night in Activity
Then, we worked on a really fun activity–the rocket test mission. My ten year old led this activity and was able to show us how it worked. We watched a balloon launch from one end of the string to the other side. The boys had a lot of fun with this one and they were able to recreate it over and over.
The final activities included earning a planet passport and astronaut training certificate. Also, the box included some YOGA SPACE CARDS. We plan to try these moves out at bedtime (surrounded by our new glow in the dark stars!).
This Kids Night in Box was truly our favorite one to date! It was filled to the brim with quality activities. We were all able to contribute to the activities and all of us, including me, learned a lot of new facts about space!

Looks like a lot of fun!
Such a cute idea! Do you prefer the kid boxes or date night boxes? They all seem so creative!
I’ll be honest, it is easier to find time for the Kids Night Boxes! But I love both and maybe over the summer my husband and I can try out more date night boxes!
There are so many fun things in the box! In your opinion, are these boxes designed with multiple kiddos in mind, or is it really designed for one kid?
I honestly think 2-3 kiddos is ideal. There are a lot of activities and I think it keeps it moving to have several kids involved. There are plenty of things in it to do so even with a couple kids it still takes an hour (or more) to go through everything.
This looks so fun! My older son is really into space lately, and we’ve gotten so many glowing stars it could make your head spin! The toy telescope is a nice addition – I bet they had a blast!!
This sounds so fun! I’m definitely keeping this in mind for summer break, we’re always looking for constructive ways to fill our days 😀
